Most people don't want to end up on the ground in a real confrontation.
In Krav Maga, we spend a lot of time learning how to stay on our feet, maintain balance, create distance, and avoid being taken down in the first place.
However, real situations don't always go to plan.
That's why we also train how to strike, defend, and move from a variety of ground positions. Whether you're on your back, on your side, mounted by an attacker, or trying to create space from underneath pressure, you'll learn practical skills designed for self-defence rather than sport.
The goal is not to stay on the ground and "win" a grappling match.
The goal is to protect yourself, create an opportunity to escape, and get back to your feet as quickly as possible.
Ground fighting may be a last resort, but if you ever find yourself there, having a plan can make all the difference.
Train for the reality of self-defence.
Train to stay safe.
Train to get home.

Great training tonight with an awesome mix of beginners, experienced students, men and women all training together 👊
One of the best things about Krav Maga is the team environment. New students quickly build confidence training alongside more experienced members, while everyone continues learning under pressure together.
Friendly atmosphere. Practical training. Real self-defence skills.
No big egos — just people helping each other improve 🔥

Big congratulations to Larry, Luke, Diago and Angelina who passed their level 1 grading today 👊
Really proud of the work this group has put in over the last few months. What people often don’t see is the consistency behind moments like this — showing up and steadily improving week after week.
That’s how real confidence is built.
Awesome effort from everyone today and well deserved 👏
If you’ve been thinking about starting Krav Maga or self-defence training, beginners are always welcome.

Side kicks are common in many martial arts — but in real self-defence, techniques need to work under pressure, stress, and chaos.
In Krav Maga, we adapt the side kick into a practical tool used to:
âś” Create distance
âś” Stop aggressive forward pressure
âś” Disrupt attacks
âś” Help create escape opportunities
âś” Work even without extreme flexibility
The focus isn’t on flashy techniques.
It’s on simple, direct movements that hold up in realistic situations.
That’s why our training emphasises:
• pressure testing
• realistic scenarios
• movement under stress
• practical application over performance
Practical. Realistic. Effective.
That’s Krav Maga.

Self-defence isn’t just about protecting yourself physically.
For many people, training changes something much bigger.
You become calmer under pressure.
- More aware.
- More confident.
- More assertive.
- Less likely to freeze in difficult situations.
At Krav Maga Auckland
, people often join wanting to learn practical self-defence…
…but stay because of how training makes them feel outside the gym too.
You don’t need to be fit, experienced, or “tough” to start. Most beginners are nervous at first.
Confidence isn’t something you magically have before training.
It’s something you build through repetition, challenge, and supportive coaching.

Elbow strikes — power in close quarters.
When distance disappears, elbows take over.
Short range.
Fast.
Explosive.
In Krav Maga, elbow strikes are designed for real situations where there’s no space to wind up or step back.
➡️ Direct
➡️ Efficient
➡️ Targeting vulnerable areas
You don’t need size or strength — just the right technique, applied at the right moment.
This is what makes Krav Maga effective:
simple movements that work under pressure.

Knife defence training — safe, controlled, and realistic.
This is one of the most serious scenarios we train for.
We don’t guess.
We don’t improvise.
We train it properly.
✔️ Controlled environment
✔️ Safety gear
✔️ Progressive training methods
So students can learn to:
➡️ Recognise the threat early
➡️ React under pressure
➡️ Defend and counter decisively
Knife defence isn’t about “winning a fight.”
It’s about creating an opportunity to get away safely.
That’s why everything we do is built around real situations and real responses — while keeping training safe and structured.
