Wow. Just… wow. Long post incoming so grab a cuppa if you want to read!

If you’d asked me 6 months ago what my plans may have been for the season, stepping my baby horse into the most gigantic equestrian environment in NZ was certainly not on the cards… until suddenly it was when the amazing Lara & Miranda (Lara Beth ) got the call up to join us at Equifest 2026 👀

First things first, Checky, Check, Checkers, My Big Kid, The Big Dog, Cuddle Bunny, Kid Lover, Treat Finder and downright Entertainer. I am so so so proud of you. Without fail, he took it all in his stride. I’ll be honest, you can’t ever prepare for such an environment, with thousands of people, flappy flags, and well, we all loved Lara’s hype music, and he just went in with the “we got this” vibe.

Lara & Miranda - you guys are just a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much for allowing my boy to be your partner in crime, the many hugs, the many chats and the many trainings. I genuinely can’t thank you enough for the positivity you brought to my weekend amongst everything else going on - and yes, I do race Motorbikes 😂 she wasn’t giving me sh&t for it (haha!)
They kept me fed, reminded me to breathe, and taught us some epic new tricks.

Kerry from ecohorsenz is entirely responsible for how sparkly he came out, and we are so so thankful to everything she has done for us - a lot of scrubbing was involved when Lara said she wanted a unicorn!

I want to thank Paula Riepen for the utmost care and love she has given me over the weekend while looking after my very sick mare after a horrific vet call on Friday, and allowing me to continue with Equifest instead of racing down to deal with the situation at hand.

Lindy Waijenberg - Checks Godmother of sorts, thank you for babysitting my kid when I was overwhelmed and coming over to check on us regularly, and being full of laughs and loves ♥️

Can confirm, he stood there snoozing for a rather prolonged time while I did work calls & emails 😂
Check has had a very cruisey few days in the lead up to Equifest , where he is set to become Lara Beth new unicorn 🦄

He’s had to use more brain power than physical power while he learns how Aunty Lara creates her magic 🪄

But if this isn’t the definition of this horses temperament and type, I’m really not sure what is 🤣 I may be getting older; but I’m never too old to ensure everything is fun, because without the fun in life; there’s not much else to it!

The best thing about having babies from when they’re tiny tots, is they’re a direct reflection of you ♥️

As much as AI can probably whip up something in 3 seconds, I enjoyed spending the weekend popping some of my favourite moments of Check together 🖤🤍

Welcome back Ms Hop!
6 years ago I sold this wee lady to the best home I could ever ask for (thanks to Jess Land !) and when the opportunity came knocking to purchase her back, well, we made it happen 💁🏼‍♀️

Hop is by Millionaire VWNZ (Emilion VDL x Showtym Girl) and out of Gossip Girl (Levado GNZ x Hombre). She is a registered NZWB Reg 2 & Rheinland approved Studbook mare, having Voltaire II & Super Stud in the dam line. She was bred by Vicki Wilson. She is the only progeny of World Cup jumper, Millionaire VWNZ, so a little special!

As much as she is sound & competitive, we have purchased her specifically to produce unique coloured Warmbloods - a really special opportunity to obtain her back prior to her ridden retirement with plenty of life left!

She will be going to, of course, my lovely boy Checkers, where we hope to see a fair few coloured babies with a glowing pedigree on each side. Stay tuned ♥️

Checks first wee “show” and first ever round of jumping. He secured two solid double clears in the 70/70, taking on fill like he’d seen it his whole life 🕺🏼

Proud is an understatement; he is the most honest, lovable kid on the block, and is so cruisy in new environments. The first few jumps are always a bit “extra” but then he settles in like an old pro treating them like canter poles 😂

He’ll have a couple of days off to chill out, then be in for some gentle hacks before Equifest ♥️

Check will throw on his big boy pants & head to his first sleepover next month at Equifest ! He will become Lara’s ( Lara Beth ) new Unicorn for her demo days down there, as well as dabbling in some in-hand showing through our free time while we are there 👑 Feel free to come say hello and have a cuddle 🥰

ecohorsenz will be coming out in full swing over the next few weeks to scrub up the mud bug for his overnight debut, and we’re excited to support this brand for the season ahead - Kerry is a Wonder Woman!

The plan is to dabble in some Ribbon Days, A&P, SHer & SHing… with maybe even a Mini ODE or two (because I clearly love being thrown into the water jump…)

And you’ll never believe it, but I may even consider a dressage comp.. or two (you heard it here first…)

In the background, I’ve got two very special NZWB mares going to him this season with exceptional bloodlines… Sabrina & Poster Girl. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a Homozygous come next season 🤞🏻

KC will be pulled in over summer for a bit of a makeover and handling, not that he needs too much as he’s already such a good boy, and then be turned back out onto the hills to continue to grow 🫣

Bring on October, I’m super excited and really can’t wait 🎉
