There is no substitute for that feeling of anticipation when you head out to Hauraki gulf looking for the action. Once the radar was lit with a sign of birds in the distance the hammer went down to get there in time. The drogue was set and the excitement on the boat was high as we drifted into the chaos, and it didn't disappoint. On the very first drop, two rods buckled over immediately, landing a pair of heavy shouldered snapper, both comfortably clearing the 70cm mark, came over the rail to get the party started.
From there, it was absolute mayhem. The fishing was fast paced and as soon as the lures hit the strike zone near the bottom, they were getting absolutely hammered. The bin was filled In no time, and we were left with a bunch of very happy anglers and some great memories. When you find the birds and the big reds are on the chew like that, there is simply no better place to be.

A Front-Row Seat to one of the Greatest Show on Earth!
There’s nothing quite like the overload excitement feeling of when approaching a massive Hauraki Gulf workup when they’re truly firing.
This week, we found ourselves right in the thick of it, chaotic, high energy feeding frenzy of whales and dolphins aggressively feeding followed by thousands of bids diving in, a show that just never gets old and our groups had to stop and catch their breath.

Once cameras went back in the pockets and drift was set, the lures hadn’t even reached the bottom before the rods were bending and the reels produced high-m pitched tune we all live for.

It was all on, super fast pace fishing , fat Snapper hitting high in the water column mixed with some big Trevally and very chunky Gurnard. The fish were thick, hungry, and hitting with absolute aggression on every drop and we had the bins full, iced, and sorted by 10:00 AM..
This time of year always brings new levels of excitements, morning are bitt cooler, sunrise is crisper and the action is just around the corner.

Nothing beats a perfect day on the water, the Hauraki Gulf turned it on for the Aussie crew on a stag do. Capt Evan found the fish in no time and the boys were ON!
Reels screaming, rods bending, great kingies and very welcome john dory at boat side just to add to the stag party vibe.
After plenty of yahoos and high fives, we made a quick stop on a small workup to add some Snappers and Kahawai to the mixed bag. An action packed day from start to finish!

It was absolute chaos out there at time, nature at its loudest, whales, dolphins and birds and no boat to be seen. While the Kingfish were moving fast within the schools, we managed to pull this solid one.

One for the bin, but a front-row seat to the best show on the ocean for the rest of the day.

The kingfish are ON in the Hauraki Gulf!
What a weather we had all weekend and the fishing was red got as well!
With sporadic workups closer to town,
We pushed further out and found some incredible action. Massive schools of pilchards are starting to flow into the Gulf, and the kingfish packs are right on their tails. At times, the pilchard schools were so thick they were taking shelter directly under the boat! The Snapper and Trevally fishing was great too under it all once the team managed to pass the big blue mackerel schools.
Felt like summer fished like autumn ✌️
If you’re looking for workup action, now is the time to get out there. The Gulf is truly coming alive.

That smile says it all!

Conditions were far from ideal, but David and his crew didn’t let a bit of Hauraki chop slow them down. They braved the elements with some true Kiwi grit, and it paid off!

We ended with a cracking mixed bag of some solid Snapper and hard-fighting Kingfish to round out the day. It’s not always "dead flat seas" out here, but when the fishing is this good, you just have to get amongst it!

Massive shoutout to David and the team for their awesome energy and to Captain Connor for delivering the Fish N Dips experience!

Glassy conditions and beginner's luck!

What a day on the water! We had a group, most of whom were total beginners, but they definitely brought that "beginner's luck" along for the ride.

The weather couldn't have been better if we'd ordered it ourselves. Not a breath of wind, not a ripple on the surface, just pure glass from start to finish.

The boys absolutely smashed it, landing some trophy snappers and respectable kingfish that gave the gear a proper workout.

What an awesome few days on the Gulf! The workups are officially kicking it up a gear, with some great snappers underneath feeding hard. The Kingfish are in big numbers, inclose chasing theanchovy schools. Nothing beats that first screaming run when a Kingy hits, especially in shallow waters it is just a heart-pumping action at its best.
The energy out there is electric right now!

Awesome day chasing Kingies with a couple of legends from NSW!
From the first drop, it was non stop action. The local reefs are absolutely loaded with life right now, kingfish at every stop and an unreal amount of bait around. Plenty of fish caught and released to fight another day!
