Netball New Zealand has appointed Jennah Wootten as its new Chief Executive, bringing one of New Zealand’s most experienced sports and major events leaders to the helm of the country's largest women's sport.

Wootten joins NNZ from Aktive where she has served as Chief Executive since 2021. She brings experience spanning some of New Zealand's most significant sporting events, including the role of Chief Executive of the highly successful World Masters Games 2017, which featured 28,000 participants across 28 sports.

Volunteer of the Month is back for 2026, thanks to our friends at WM New Zealand.

From coaches and umpires to scorers, team managers and sideline supporters, volunteers are the heartbeat of our game and now’s the chance to celebrate the people making a difference in your netball community.

Centres can nominate outstanding volunteers each month from May to August, with winners recognised and rewarded for the impact they make behind the scenes.

Our Woolworths futureFERNS programme is getting a refresh 🌿

From 2027, we’ll be introducing updates to the Year 5 & 6 game to help tamariki build confidence and transition more smoothly into the seven aside game.

In Remembrance: Frances Granger

Silver Fern #55

A massive contributor to the sport she loved, both as a player and a coach, Netball New Zealand is honouring the legacy of Frances Granger following her recent passing.

A familiar face on the domestic circuit for over 20 years, Granger fashioned a formidable career to reach the pinnacle of the sport when selected for the Silver Ferns in 1974. Following her lengthy time as a player, Granger forged an equally-impressive coaching career which took her around the world.

Netball New Zealand has appointed one of the country's most experienced governance leaders, Alastair Carruthers CNZM, as its new Board Chair.

He joins the Netball New Zealand Board alongside former Silver Fern Anna Galvan, who has been elected to the Board.
