Lupo Soltario (Italian for Lone Wolf) a horse we selected and syndicated in 2022 trialled super today at Te Rapa NZ in the fastest heat of the day. Looks like a strong WFA spring ahead for the Danica Guy trained 6 year old. Gezzz he looked good under a tight hold.

We've been keeping an eye on the sire Eminent for many years since arriving in NZ. We believe he may throw a son or daughter that’s full of Frankel’s quality physical traits - luckily we may have found one that fits the mould.

This filly is by EMINENT, a son of champion European racehorse and sire Frankel, has a fantastic walk, strength through her shoulder, a strong hind quarter and most of all real swagger when she walks - inherited directly from Frankel himself.

She hails from a unique central district's family of pure speed. Her dam, It’s Bianca was very impressive when winning on debut at Taupo as a spring 3yo. She had more talent than her four win record might suggest. It's Bianca’s stakes winning full brother Salamanca, by sire Alamosa was the sire’s first winner as a 2yo and he was very effective winning 10 races up to 1400m. Similarly this filly’s grandam Anca was also very fast winning seven races from 1100 to 1400m. She won her first four races from only five starts as a 3 year-old before heading to Brisbane for the winter carnival where she won two sprint races, running super times.

We estimate she will grow to be about 16.1 hands tall and sit at around 520kg racing weight as a 3-year old. She is very strong through the middle (girth) - a physical attribute we always look for in our yearlings.

This filly will no doubt be a strong sprinter/miler. She is the perfect syndicate horse for people who want to own a share that won’t cost the earth. She is well priced, starting at $1,696.63 for a 5% share (includes all costs to 31st July 2026). She will be set on a path towards the 3 year old filly classics, starting at Taupo, then Hawkes Bay, and then the 1000 Guineas.

We've been patient, waiting 4 years to secure another quality Satono Aladdin out of the Karaka Yearling Sales that shows similar traits to top 3 year old Lupo Soltario - who Kingmakers’ Leighton Howl also selected, syndicated, and on-sold to Hong Kong interests - interestingly, latter that same year he selected Ceolwulf at Karaka.

Six months on he has let down really well from the yearling sales, post gelding, he developed his good size and strength following some growth. He comes across as a playful type, yet relaxed with his handler, and with a wonderful ‘Aloof’ nature. He is a proud chap who is confident, lowering his head when he walks and pushes well from behind showcasing a super walk. Like Lupo, at the same age, he uses his girth and shoulder well when he moves.

Conformation wise he is correct – a great eater who will no doubt grow to around 16.1 hands and sit at 520kg in weight (He also wind scopes a one and has clean low risk x-rays)

This Satono Aladdin gelding has a real presence, rolling along with confidence in each stride that he takes. Now fully broken in, he showcase’s a light, economic action and will be all “power and speed”.

This gelding will no doubt be a strong sprinter/miler. He is the perfect syndicate horse for people who want to own a serious 3 year old that will be targeted towards the 3 year old classics, the Sarten, then the Guineas and on to the Karaka Million in late January.

Great to see Lupo, the black type winning Satono Aladdin, that we selected out of Karaka Book 2 for $82,500, is back on NZ tracks following his false start in Hong Kong. Well done Danica Guy for all her hard work. He's building up!
