This weekend we are honoured to have Nobuo Takase Shihan, Etsuji Horii Shihan and Miyuki Kumazawa Shihan impart a little of their Aikido knowledge on us - day 1 was amazing - and am sure day 2 will be equally as enjoyable.
We would also like to recognise the 128 aikidoka that came together to make this event possible - friends from around the motu, from Queensland and Melbourne, Singapore and Japan - thank you!

A special event took place at the Howick Aikido Dojo on Sunday 14th January. Sergio Mor Stabilini Sensei, serving as President of the JITAKYOEI BUDO & WUSHU Università Europea Arti Marziali e Cultura Orientale association (www.jitakyoeibudo.it), recently visited New Zealand and graciously led a class at our dojo.
The class was organised by Vittorio Ratti, a former member of the Jitakyoei Budo association and a 3rd dan instructor of Katori Shinto Ryu ( ). Vittorio moved to New Zealand five years ago and joined the Aikido community in Howick but has remained in contact with his former teachers.
Sergio Mor Stabilini Sensei, a distinguished martial artist with expertise in multiple disciplines, led a special 2-hour class for Aikido practitioners at our dojo. The atmosphere was serene and filled with great enthusiasm as none of our students had trained in the discipline of Katori Shinto Ryu before. It was a truly enriching experience for everyone involved.
We believe that this special lesson could be the beginning of something unique for our dojo and the wider martial arts community in New Zealand. The seeds planted by Sergio Mor Stabilini Sensei may very well lead to the creation of a new group of Katori Shinto Ryu practitioners.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Sergio Mor Stabilini Sensei for generously using some of his time in New Zealand to lead the class. We look forward to the potential growth and development of Katori Shinto Ryu in our community.
