Junior Black Sox Squad Named ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฟ
Softball New Zealand is pleased to announce the Junior Black Sox squad as preparations continue towards the WBSC U18 Menโs Softball World Cup Oceania Qualifier, to be held in Manawatลซ over ANZAC weekend this April 2026.
Selection into the Junior Black Sox programme is a significant achievement and recognises the commitment and performance shown by each athlete. The squad will now enter the next phase of preparation as they work towards representing Aotearoa on the international stage.
Hosting the Oceania Qualifier on home soil provides an exciting opportunity for the team as they compete against the regionโs best in pursuit of qualification for the WBSC World Cup.
Congratulations to all selected athletes. Further updates will be shared as preparations progress.

How good congratulations Liam Potts ๐ช๐ฝ
The World Baseball Softball Confederation revealed the Annual WBSC Softball Award Winners at their Congressional this past weekend - and weโve got reason to celebrate! Liam Potts was awarded 2025 Softball Player of the Year๐
This prestigious honour is awarded to the best overall player in a WBSC competition and follows Liamโs outstanding performance at the WBSC Menโs Softball World Cup with the New Zealand Black Sox . He now joins an elite group of past recipients including Yukiko Ueno ๐ฏ๐ต, Sean Cleary ๐จ๐ฆ, Jessica Moore ๐บ๐ธ and Nathan Nukunuku ๐ณ๐ฟ.
Congratulations Liam on such an amazing achievement.
