SPC 1st XI continued the momentum from last week’s win over Westlake to beat Macleans College 1st XI by six wickets. Bowling first, SPC kept the pressure on throughout the innings with Siddhraj Solanki and Casper Flaszynski leading the way with three wickets apiece. Chasing 135 for the win Shlok Malhotra anchored the innings with 42 and was ably supported by Liam Ireland 40 and Henry Shaw 18 who secured the winning runs with two overs to spare. Congratulations to Cormac Casey on receiving his cap for 10 games with the 1st XI.

SPC then chased the total down by the 34th over with Phoenix Dsouza top scoring with 52, neatly backed up by Aagam Virdi (29). Sam Jisen (10), Jake Lister (8) and Aaryan Kuriyan (8) saw things home by the 34th over.

SPC 2nd XI lost to St Kents 3rd XI on Saturday. A great bowling performance especially from George McNeilly (2 for 16 off 6.5 overs) and Jacob Buckton (3 for 18 off 6 overs). Unfortunately this was let down by fielding mistakes and poor decision making with the bat. A quick 30 from Luke Aldous gave the boys hope, Ayden Fernandes and George tried to rescue the win from the bottom order but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

SPC 2nd XI game against MAGs 3rd XI was a really tight one, with both teams having highs and lows. MAGs batted first and set the tone early, going at 6/7 runs an over. Every batter came in looking to score off every ball. 3 wickets from Freddie Ardnt, 3 wickets from Jacob Buckton, 2 wickets from George McNeilly and some spectacular pieces off fielding saw MAGs all out for 137. Thomas Greenstreet with a sensational catch and Ryan Cyril Sebastian with some quick reactions to get an unexpected run out. The start of the 2nd innings saw MAGs start off very strong with SPC losing 2 very early wickets. Oscar Reid and Harrison Latimer calmed the innings to settle the team into the swing of things. Harrison, Thomas and Luke Aldous all scored in the 30s to deliver a much needed win for the 2nd XI. Always a great matchup against MAGs and good to see Joseph Ryan still enjoying his cricket after moving to MAGs.

Hard fought loss for the SPC 2nd XI cricket, losing by 5 runs. Wickets from Isaac Short, Freddie Arndt, George McNeilly, Elijah Shed and Will Erickson saw Kings bowled out for 191, a few too many extras left the boys with a hefty chase ahead. Shaky start with the top of the order struggling to get runs, Oscar Reid and Jacob Buckton then led the team with a partnership of 82, with Thomas Greenstreet and Jono McNeilly trying their best to get the final runs and the team over the line. Unfortunately the boys ended up 5 runs short with Jono and Thomas remaining unbeaten at the end. A tough pill to swallow but an overall exciting game with each team gaining control at various points in the game. A lot to be learnt from the game and a lot to improve on with MAGS next week.
