Winter netball is back, which means our shared parking areas are especially busy on weekends and after school on weekdays.
If you’re heading to the course, we recommend carpooling or getting dropped off where possible. If you do need to park, please allow plenty of extra time before your tee-off and be patient and courteous towards other park users.
Thanks for helping keep things running smoothly for everyone enjoying our fantastic local sports facilities this winter ⛳

Tomorrow is decision day for Takapuna Golf Course
Tomorrow, the Kaipātiki Local Board will make an important decision about the future of golf at Takapuna.
The meeting is open to the public, and we’d love to have our supporters in the room to show just how much this course means to our community.
If you’re able to attend, your presence matters. A strong, visible turnout helps demonstrate the value of keeping golf at AF Thomas Park.
We do ask that all supporters respect the Board’s process. Please be courteous, patient, and mindful that elected members are making a considered decision for the wider community.
Let’s show up in a way that reflects the best of our golfing community — passionate, constructive, and respectful.
Meeting details:
🕙 Time: 10am
📍 Location: Kaipātiki Local Board Office, Glenfield Library Building, 90 Bentley Ave, Glenfield

Our proposal for a 12-hole course is about ensuring we keep affordable, accessible golf at Takapuna if flood mitigation goes ahead at AF Thomas Park.
It draws on successful models in the United States and Australia, where shorter, more flexible courses are increasingly used to increase access, reduce land required, and ensure financial sustainability.
We think a 12-hole course will allow us more flexibility than nine to provide different game configurations to suit everyone. We can set up a booking system so our golfers can play six, nine, 12 and even 18 holes on some days. Some of our beginners, working people and older players want to play a shorter game or a shorter half round before or after work / school etc.

Listen to our Head Greenkeeper Steve Dowd talk to RNZ's Lisa Owen about our plan to be the first urban 12-hole golf course in New Zealand.
Takapuna golfers may get 12 holes: 'It just gives us a more meaningful round of golf'
The golf course at AF Thomas Park will lose some of its 18 holes to wetlands, but there is a new plan to squeeze 12 holes into the remaining space.

Independent report confirms Takapuna’s importance to Auckland golf
The numbers are in — and they tell a powerful story. ⛳
An independent Golf Needs Analysis commissioned by Auckland Council confirms that Takapuna Golf Course is one of the most important courses in Auckland’s golf network.
• 103,000 rounds played each year — the highest of any Auckland course
• A course that is affordable, accessible and beginner-friendly
• Other nearby courses are already at high utilisation and couldn’t absorb Takapuna players
The conclusion?
Continued golf at AF Thomas Park is essential to meet demand — now and into the future.

We want to say a big thank you to all our supporters.
More than 5,000 submissions were received by Auckland Council on the future of AF Thomas Park, and the message was clear: our community values golf at Takapuna.
Seventy per cent of submitters supported continuing golf at the park.
• 37% preferred predominantly golf, with limited other recreation
• 33% supported a balanced mix of golf and other recreational uses
That is significant public support — and it reflects what we hear every day from players, families and the wider community.
Thank you for standing up for accessible, affordable public golf at Takapuna. Your voice has made a difference.

It's shaping up to be a fantastic weekend for golf. The course is busy but there are a few tee times left - we'd love to see you for a twilight round. It's thirsty work so make sure you pop into the clubhouse afterwards!
