Phew, anyone need a break?

This time of year can feel non stop as we ride the high energy of summer solstice through the festive period, juggling family time, work socials and catching up with all our friends. It's beautiful and there is much to be grateful for, but our nervous systems can start to feel overloaded.

I love to spend a few minutes practicing nadi sodhana (alternate nostril breathing) to support my body back to a place of grounded regulation.

Settled comfortably seated in a quiet place, bring the index and middle finger of the right hand to lightly rest at the point between the eyebrows. Seal left nostril with the ring finger and inhale gently through the right. Pause at the top of the inhale. Seal the left nostril with the thumb, release the right, and exhale gently through right. Pause at the bottom of the breath. Reverse to complete the cycle: inhale back through right, pause at the top, exhale through left.

This practice has benefits in the physical and subtle body. Comment or pm me with any questions.

See you on the mat soon, and happy new year! Namaste πŸͺ·

Namaste, friends! Welcome to my business page, Lorna Leah Yoga πŸͺ·πŸ’«

Yoga has been integral to my life since my early 20s, and I finally trained as a teacher through Golden Flow Yoga in Takaka, 4 years ago. I begin each day by finding my breath with my pranayama practice, connecting to my body with yoga asana (physical posture) and grounding with a short meditation πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

I feel so blessed to teach weekly here on beautiful Waiheke Island, where I live with my beautiful partner and baby boy. I have so much gratitude for the lovely people that practice with me every week, and also to those that stop in when they can πŸ’œ check the next post for more information on joining us.

Yoga has deeply enriched and improved my body, wellbeing, and life. I would be honoured to walk side by side with you on your personal journey with yoga, to discover how it can enrich yours.

Namaste. πŸ™
