CAPE CLASSIC AND THE CONNECT GROUP GROM SERIES EVENT 2 ANNOUCEMENT
As you are all aware, NZ moved into the red alert level at 1159 pm on the 23rd January. SISA and BBC representatives have been considering the options for the The Connect Group Grom Series Event 2 and the Cape Classic for most of the day. We have sought guidance from multiple stakeholders, including the Buller Council and DHB representatives.
After careful consideration of the current guidelines, the close proximity of Westport to the current cluster in Nelson (2 more announced today), and the limited Health Services currently available in the Buller Region, we have made the decision to POSTPONE both the Grom Series and Cape Classic. We have not made this decision lightly and we realise that there are other competitions still running this weekend. However there are differences, including this is a combined competition with multiple age groups. Ultimately we are not willing to compromise one of our isolated surf communities. We are currently looking at alternative dates and are hopeful we will be able to run both events in the future. All entrants will receive a refund minus an admin fee.
Given the announcement today of the COVID PROTECTION FRAMEWORK change to RED at 1159pm tonight, we are currently reviewing our options for the Cape Classic and The Connect Group SISA GROM SERIES. We are working with BBC to ensure that any of our decisions are inclusive of the Westport Community.
UNDER RED What we do know is that any event will need to be limited to 100 people, vaccination certificates required and all MOH guidelines including Mask wearing and isolating if you are unwell will be adhered too. Once a decision has been made we will post here.
SISA Committee Meeting 7pm tonight.

Boardrider Club Workshops
The online boardrider club workshops will kick off on Tuesday July 27th.
The first topic for discussion will be Community Trust funding (gaming machines).
This topic was one of the most requested by clubs earlier in the year. We will walk through the following:
👉🏽What are Gaming trusts and differences with Regional Trusts
👉🏽Gaming Trust numbers, money available, deadlines
👉🏽High probability funding projects
👉🏽Getting your ducks in a row with paperwork and reporting
We will open the floor for questions but also for everyone to share their knowledge about successful applications and tips they have found useful.
We will provide an 'AMA' (ask me anything) post workshop for those that want to carry on with discussion and ask further questions.
Register your interest with Ben - [email protected].
