Following the catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal, so many families have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods.
Lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and families left grieving following the recent devastation in Nepal. While thousands of kilometres separate us in New Zealand, our hearts remain anchored to our homeland, our families, and our friends. When Nepal hurts, Aotearoa feels it deeply. As a community here in Canterbury, we know the long and difficult road to recovery after a natural disaster, and we know that distance cannot divide us when support is needed most.

Join us for an evening of community, solidarity, and authentic Nepalese food to help rebuild lives in the affected regions.
100% of all proceeds will go directly to the Nepal Government Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support immediate relief and long-term rebuilding efforts. Beyond financial aid, this effort is a message of solidarity and hope, proving that even from afar, Aotearoa stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Nepal.

We are delighted to announce the inaugural Pioneer Cup, an annual doubles badminton competition between Pioneer Badminton Club and NNZFSC Badminton Club.

The inaugural tournament will be held on Tuesday, 1 September, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre.

The Nepal New Zealand Friendship of Canterbury (NNZFSC) wishes to express our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and the entire mountaineering community on the devastating loss of life on Broad Peak.

The loss of Nirmal Purja, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Pur Bahadur Gurung, Nima Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, and Nawang Thindu Sherpa, alongside their brave team members Sohail Sakhi, Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy, Mallory Geis, and Wang Zhong is a tragedy that is deeply felt.

The bond between Nepal and the mountaineering world is profound, and these brave men and women dedicated their lives to exploring that world and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Their dedication, skill, and passion inspired us all. Though they are no longer with us, their spirits will remain forever in the mountains they loved.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those affected. May they rest in peace, and may their legacy continue to inspire generations of adventurers.💐🕯🙏
