New King and Queen of the Beach!

Pier 2 Pier Results 2021.

Congratulations again to everyone today.

Brody Roberts - King of the Beach
Emma Herbet - Queen of the Beach

It was fun creating history as we look to rebuild this event. The Pier 2 Pier Series ran (pun intended) from 1992 to 2011.

Today – One Decade On – we crowned new victors.

We need a couple of new trophies…

Congratulations to:

Eva McNabb – 2km Beach Run
Connor Ritchie – 2km Beach Run
Robyn Perkins – 10km
Matt Dryden – 10km

Special mention to Fiona Gilroy, runner up in the 10km who is our 2008 Queen of the Beach!

The Pier to Pier 5km – 9am Sun 28 Mar

Start on the closed road beside the recently restored New Brighton Clock Tower.

Head north past the epic New Brighton Beachside Playground, famous Whale Pool and He Puna Taimoana – Christchurch’s excellent hot pools.

Glance at the under construction, new, New Brighton Surf Lifesaving Clubrooms and base.

On the outward leg along Marine Parade work continues on the upgraded dunes edge walking and biking path before you pass the renovated Thomson Park.

Turning onto the beach at Waimairi Surf Lifesaving Club you will be rewarded with a stunning view and appreciate the low tide!

Soaking in the views of the Scarborough and Banks Peninsular landscape you will eventually start to narrow your focus on the Pier knowing that is where you can rest.

Exit the beach before He Puna Taimoana to enjoy the new boardwalk as you sense the serenity of the hot pools which suddenly seem more welcoming, before rounding the playground and crossing the finish line back at the New Brighton Clock Tower.

Relax and discover New Brighton. Sunday mornings are seldom so refreshing!
