Pause a bit and listen to your body. What’s it telling you? So many of us are pushing and pushing to stay on that relentless hamster wheel and to keep up with the unrealistic standards that we set for ourselves. Some of these are not sustainable and just lead to harm. Reach out if you need to talk this through and possibly find a better way, so that you can live a life with reduced stress and better wellbeing.

How are you going with those promises you made to yourself on Jan 1st, ie your New Year’s Resolution/s? If your motivation is now lacking, you’re not alone. According to research, approximately 45% of people check out on their New Year’s Resolutions by the end of January and only 6% truly follow through on them.

So we’re now at February 4th and for those of us with kids, they’re back to school… the perfect time to check in with ourselves and take a fresh look at how we’re doing. If you find that you’re settling back into those old habits that you were resolute about changing, here is a bit of encouragement to get some fuel on the fire for change:

1. Modify as you need to: maybe you over committed and went too hard too fast. Is there something you can alter to make things more doable and sustainable?
2. Look at the idea of change in a more positive light and embrace the new routine: as human beings we are fully capable of adapting! Change can be uncomfortable for sure, and that’s ok! With time and acceptance, it gets easier and easier. Acknowledge the discomfort but stick with it, knowing you can do it and it will be so worth.
3. Find support: a friend, a coach, a class… there will be people out there who will cheer you on or perhaps even do this with you. Find a support system to help you as you grow.
4. Celebrate each little success: if you’re doing it, be proud! Celebrate that you’re committing to your growth.

Remember:
Modification does not equal failure
Discomfort does not equal too hard
Asking for support does not equal weakness

You can do this!

Building healthy habits is very doable if we support ourselves along the way. Small, consistent steps can equal big results!

While the air fryer was doing its thing I used the timer on there to give me a motivation kick to get a few jobs done that I have been putting off. It was like ‘okay, I’ve 15 mins to get these done!’ Not too a long time so that you’re like ‘uggghh’ but enough to get some stuff done.
Timers are a brilliant tool to get an ADHD brain to act 🧠 try it! Woop, multitasking! 🙌🏼
