LemurKat is an author and illustrator with a love of the wild and whimsical. Angela "LemurKat" Oliver is a zoologist geek.

She considers herself an illustrator, not an artist, and draws every day, presenting her "Animal-a-day" project on social media. Her favourite subjects are birds, with lemurs running a close second. She has also written several books, including her Lemurs saga: it's epic fantasy with lemurs, and several for middle grade readers. When not writing or drawing, LemurKat enjoys reading, cooking or bird-watching.

Greetings faithful and patient followers! As NZ enters into lockdown and families are forced into solitary confinement, the trick is, keeping yourself positive and alive in spirit as well as in body!
Have you ever said you would write a novel one day? Well, that day has come!
Ever said "oh I wish I could draw"? Now is the opportunity to learn.
Spend time with your families - for those not sharing confinement with you, there is always the telephone, or any manner of video chat groups. Write them emails! Connect with people digitally where you cannot socially.

Over the next few days/weeks I'll try and post a few things up here to keep you (and maybe the kids) entertained: coloring pages, drawing tutorials. It's going to be a testing time for families, but we can do this.

To begin, here's some lineart I drew many years ago. They are manakins. I do not know their species. Your challenge? Color them! If you crave accuracy, research first!

Kia Kaha!

All set up at the Tamariki book festival, Rauora park, Christchurch. The weather might be dicey but the coffee is warm and there's lots of fun to be had!
I'm doing my presentation on the Red Velvet stage at 11.20 and have a "draw (or colour) Tiriki" table set up too.

My books have arrived just in the nick of time for the festival! Normally $25 each, I shall be offering the bird books at 2 for $40.

As part of the Tamariki book festival I shall be raffling off this specially drawn illustration - as well as having colouring pages so kids can colour in a Tiriki of their own, or for the older kids (and adults!), draw him!

We will have various colouring materials there including pens and pencils, donated by one of my lovely friends.

I am intending to launch my novel, "Tiriki's Great Escape" at the Tamariki Children's book festival on November 24th.

Finished the illustrations for it today! Now it's off to the printers :)
