Another week, another win — and this one was nothing short of a statement! 💪
The Marist Harewood Mavericks continued their dominant run with a comprehensive victory, making it three wins on the trot to wrap up the mid-season in style.

Lankan Lions won the toss and elected to field first, but our top order had other plans. The innings was built on a solid and confident foundation, with Manoj setting the tone with a classy 38, well supported by Sudhir’s fluent 30. Skipper Joby then anchored the innings with a calm and sensible knock, ensuring stability through the middle overs and guiding the Mavericks to a competitive 172 runs on the board.

Defending the total, the Mavericks bowlers once again showcased a complete team performance. Bowling with discipline, intent, and relentless pressure, they never allowed the Lankan Lions to settle. Wickets fell at regular intervals as the opposition was restricted to just 112 runs, sealing a convincing all-round victory. Manoj, Sudhir, Nigil, and Hitesh were outstanding, each claiming two wickets apiece, highlighting the depth and balance of our bowling attack.

A perfect way to close out the mid-season — strong performances, great team spirit, and momentum firmly on our side. Now it’s time to put the whites away briefly, enjoy the Christmas break, make memories with family, and come back refreshed and ready for the second half of the season.

Another Week, Another Statement Win! 🔥

What a performance from the Mavericks! Coming up against the table-topping Buccaneers, the boys delivered a clinical display in all departments to secure yet another commanding victory.

The Buccaneers won the toss and decided to field first, but our Mavericks were more than ready. Sudhir provided a confident start, setting the tone before the middle order took control. Anandu played a sparkling knock of 55 off just 37 balls, pacing the innings beautifully. He was joined by Hitesh, who continued his magnificent touch with a composed and unbeaten fifty of his own,62*. Their partnership ensured the Mavericks posted a formidable 208 runs on the board.

With the ball, the Mavericks were simply relentless. Right from the opening overs, our bowlers kept chipping away with regular wickets, never allowing the Buccaneers to settle. Fresh from his unbeaten knock, Hitesh produced an outstanding spell, dismantling the opposition with 6 crucial wickets. At the other end, Sudhir maintained the pressure superbly, picking up 3 wickets and wrapping up the chase with authority.

Another dominant team performance, another reminder that the Mavericks are truly on a roll. 💙💪

A memorable day of cricket for the Marist Mavericks!

Facing the Marist Warriors, the opposition won the toss and chose to bat first. The Warriors posted a competitive total of 198/10 in 36 overs. Our bowlers showed real discipline and control throughout the innings. Nigil was outstanding, claiming 4 crucial wickets in his full quota, while Bipin and Hitesh kept the pressure on from the other end, picking up 3 and 2 wickets respectively. A solid all-round effort from the bowling unit.

In the chase, the Mavericks showcased what true team cricket looks like. Manoj set the tone at the top with a confident 32, giving us the platform we needed. The middle order was then masterfully anchored by Praveen and Jibz, both scoring fifty-plus and steering the innings with calmness and class. Their partnership took the game away from the Warriors and guided us home in style.

This is exactly what makes this team special. Despite a tough start to the season, the Mavericks continue to pull together, show character, and prove that resilience and teamwork always bring results. It’s never about one superstar — it’s about the collective spirit.

The 2024/25 season has come to an end, and what a journey it has been—filled with ups and downs, challenges, and relentless hard work. Through it all, Marist Harewood has finished the season with pride, heads held high, and plenty to celebrate.

Competing in Division Two was no easy feat, but the team took on the challenge with determination and heart. Every player gave their all, supporting one another and pushing their limits each time they stepped onto the field. A huge shoutout to our captain, Manoj Zachariah, who has led the team with passion and commitment over the last four years, shaping the Mavericks into a stronger, more competitive side season after season. His leadership has been instrumental in our journey, and we truly appreciate his dedication.

This season also saw Martin Thomas deliver an outstanding individual performance, claiming four prestigious club awards—including Best Batsman and Best Bowler. His contributions with both bat and ball have been phenomenal, setting the bar high for the team. Adding to our list of remarkable achievements, Nigil Joseph’s classy century was a moment of pure inspiration, proving that cricket is a game of skill, determination, and perseverance.

In a high-stakes encounter, Marist Harewood Mavericks put on a clinical performance to secure a crucial victory over table-toppers Richmond Rhinos, moving one step closer to the much-anticipated semi-finals.

Richmond Rhinos, opting to bat first, posted a competitive total on the board. However, Mavericks’ bowlers were in complete control from the outset, applying consistent pressure and picking up key wickets at regular intervals.

The standout bowler of the innings was Martin, who delivered a stellar performance, claiming three wickets and dismantling the Rhinos’ middle order. Meanwhile, Hitesh, Joby, and Nigil chipped in with two wickets each, ensuring that the opposition never got the chance to build significant partnerships.

In response, Anandu played a match-defining knock, scoring a brilliant half century (66 runs), setting the perfect platform for the chase. His composed innings kept the Mavericks ahead of the required rate and put them in a commanding position.

As the game neared its conclusion, Nigil (47*) and Joby (49) anchored the innings, showcasing great composure and game awareness. Their partnership ensured that Mavericks comfortably chased down the target, securing another emphatic victory.

Six to eight months filled with thrilling moments, ups and downs, and unforgettable memories - that's what this season was all about!

A massive shoutout to Martin for his remarkable feat of 50 wickets this season, making him the true star of the tournament. His contributions with the bat didn't go unnoticed either, earning him the well-deserved title of Player of the Tournament. Let's also celebrate Anandu's impressive achievement of scoring over 500 runs - a testament to his dedication and skill.
