When Auckland takes on Christchurch in an epic cricket showdown

Match against Auckland.

From where do I even begin… what a day it was for us in cricket! (29.3.2026)

It all started in the dark — a 4 AM wake-up, sleepy eyes, barely 3–4 hours of sleep, but hearts full of excitement. This wasn’t just another trip. It was our first time travelling as a full team from Christchurch to Auckland for Bengal Bash Cricket tournament we had been looking forward for so long.

But sometimes, the game begins even before you step onto the field… and fate had its own plans.

After circling Auckland skies for nearly an hour, our flight was diverted to Wellington due to heavy fog. What followed was a long wait, uncertainty, and restless energy at the terminal. Finally, we boarded again… and landed in Auckland at 1 PM.

By then, our first match was gone — a walkover. Just like that.

The equation became brutally simple: one match left, one must-win game to stay alive.

We walked in with hope. We fought hard. We gave everything we had. But it just wasn’t our day.

Yes, we lost. And yes, it hurt.

After all the effort, all the planning, all the excitement — to play just one match… it’s not easy to accept. But cricket, like life, doesn’t always go the way you script it.

Still, there were moments to cherish — an amazing lunch hosted with great hospitality, thrilling matches to watch, and the electrifying atmosphere of the semi-finals and final. We witnessed true passion, resilience, and spirit.

A special congratulations to Invincible Fighters for an incredible victory — defending just 38 runs in the semi-final in a six-over game is nothing short of extraordinary. And hats off to Bengal United for reaching the final — you guys played outstanding cricket. It gives us some comfort to know we were beaten by a team that proved their quality all the way.

And amidst all the challenges, one moment of pride for us — we were honoured with the Fair Play Award. A small but meaningful recognition of our spirit and dedication.

As for us — this isn’t the end of our story.

It’s a lesson. A reminder. A motivation.

We’ll take this pain, learn from our mistakes, and come back stronger next season.
