Last Meeting of the Season (South island Champs) @ Ashburton Speedway. Only a small field of Cars but all good fast runners.
Again Ashburton put on some awesome weather & an awesome track.
Two 10 lap heats with top points starting at the front of a 15 lap Feature.
Race 1 Grid 2 finished 2nd, went a bit wide on turn 4 making room for Kirky to pass on the inside.
Race 2 Grid 5 finished 4th The Red Waka starting to get into it.
I'm 2nd on points going in to the last Race
Feature Race. Grid 2 finished 2nd. So 2nd in the South Island Champs😆I had a good set up & she (Red Waka) was running hot, held on the 2nd for the entire race just could quite catch Kirky.
Congrats to Kirky 1st, Peter Keith 2nd & Cory Duckmanton 3rd.
We all had a great day of Racing & a few laughs. A great 2 days of racing thanks to Ashburton Speedway. Thanks to Samantha Sandford, Mason Whelan for making the long trip up & thanks to all the other drivers. Really enjoyed the two Days Racing.

Well the Racing Season is all over, finishing at Ashburton Speedway with the Ashburton Champs & the South island Champs. Ashburton certainly put on the good weather all weekend.
ASHBURTON CHAMPS
Three 10 lap races highest points overall takes the Title
Race 1 Grid 5 finished 5th. Had the set up all wrong🙃
Race 2 Grid 2 finished 3rd.
Race 3 Grid 3 finished 2nd. A lot of luck going my way with 2 of our cars coming together & couldn't finish.
Samantha Sandford 93T were even on points for 2nd so we had to have a run off. Sam started on grid 1 & myself on grid 2, I won the run off & got 2nd in the Ashburton Champs.😁

What a good day for racing with a great track.
3 cars for down south & the rest are local.
3 Heats of 10 laps & the Feature 15 laps.
Race 1 Grid 11 finished 4th.
I had a tangle up with Cory after avoiding a car that spun out in front & did a bit of damage to my Nerf bar & put a hole in the exhaust which made it run abit rough for the rest of the race🥹.
Left the Nerf bar the way it was & fixed the hole in the exhaust with a cut up Red Bull can & two hole clips😝
Race 2 Grid 5 finished 4th😁
The Red Bull can worked😁 Red Waka running good again.
Race 3 Grid 3 finished 1st
Cory, Mason & myself all on 54 points so fastest lap starts on 1.
Feature Race Grid 3 finished 2NZ😀😀
First 5 or 6 laps you could throw a blanket over all 5 of us up the front, then we had a orange flag so we had a re-start. I started 3rd & managed to get a good start & got in front of Mason but couldn't catch Cory.

What a great day of racing with a couple of repairs along the way, we had a great Track & some close hard racing.

V6 Wingless Rumble Weekend held at Ruapuna Speedway 28/03/26. Sponsored by Paul Smith Racing. It was good to catch up & have a chat with Paul. Friday nights Racing was Rained out🥲 So Saturday Nights Racing consists of 3, 10 lap Heats with a 10 lap B Main then the 20 lap A Main Final. The Top 16 go straight in to the A Main & the rest battle it out in the B Main with the top 4 going through to the A Main. Thanks to the North Island Cars coming down & Thanks to the Cromwell & Invercargill Cars for coming up for this Big Event. 28 Cars in Total which makes for some fast Racing.
Race 1 Grid 1 finished 6th
Race 2 Grid 8 finished 10th
Race 3 Grid 13 finished 10th ended up with 20 points so in to the B Main I go.
B Main Race Grid 4 finished 3rd so I go in to the A Main.
A Main Final Grid 20 finished 17th.🤪 Finished 17th overall.

What a night of racing with a rough Track & a bruised body but still had fun🤣. The final race I put a hole in the Radiator & blew a hose on the steering box which covered the steering wheel in oil🥹
This was our last meeting at Ruapuna for 2026. I had an average season but had some fun.
Again a big thanks to the Pit Crew (Whanau) Mitchel, Cheryl, Awhina & Harlem for all there help working on the Red Waka through the Season. Well done Team!
