Big couple of weeks out at Port!

The 3rd year of ‘Spring into Golf’ is underway and how good to be involved again.

Great community event that is an awesome gateway to start playing the game.

I do large group sessions but are abit limited when it comes to birthday parties, weddings or funerals.

Last couple of weeks we’ve had a fine group of up and comers from OBHS.

These boys have shown real potential to nail the basics of chipping and the art of getting the ball on the green and close to the hole!

WOW, what a difference!

On the left is Greg, he came to see me last week for a lesson. This is one of his first swings while warming up.

On the right is Greg immediately after I’ve tweaked his posture.

The picture alone speaks volumes and how much more comfortable he looks over the ball. If you play each video you might also notice how much his club face position at the top has improved to be much more square.

It is so fascinating to see how one small posture change has lead to a major improvement in his club face position. As they say; “One good move leads to
another!”

Sometimes it might be the smallest of things that is holding a long time golfer back!

This is Bryan.
He’s played a lifetime of golf, quite often playing multiple games a week and of late, found his game in a ‘rut’. He usually plays off a 10 handicap.

After first looking at Bryan’s set up as seen in this video, his ball position had crept back nearer the back foot.

Even as amateurs, you can set up with a World Class setup to give yourself the best the chance at hitting a decent shot. So that’s what we did!

After moving Bryan’s ball position forward again and a small drill to improve his strike, we had him back in the winners circle in Cromwell after firing a 74 off the bat.

For any golfer who has hit a ‘rut’ in their game, it might be as simple as going back to the basics to fix what might be a huge improvement.

If this is you, don’t hold back on letting another set of eyes help your swing!!

Bryan even took the time out of his day today to let me know I’ve just cost him 2.5 shots for this Saturdays club match. Gotta be a good thing right?

Jason came for a lesson last week to improve on his long game ahead of his upcoming club competition match.

After a few minor tweaks he has gone away and implemented what we worked on….

Less than a week later, he had come out the gates swinging. Hitting every fairway on the way to winning his match and being even with the card while doing so!

Fletcher is brand new to golf and has been coming to see me for the past 4 weeks. From our first lesson we’ve really been honing in on his setup to allow him to be in the correct position everytime to swing.

The difference is noticeable between these 2 photos!

Key things to look for in a correct setup:
- Straight back posture keeping spine and neck on the same angle.
- Weight forward into the balls of your feet (which will give you the correct amount of knee bend).
- Chest well over the ball
Because you have weight forward in the upper body and feet, the anchor to all this is having your A #$ backwards to help keep balance.
- Feel like your arms are just hanging off your body.

The posture is the foundation for you to be able to make a dynamic swing that encompasses a successful weight shift forward. Being the the correct position for this certainly helps!

Fletcher has worked hard to correct his posture and now the work begins on his swing.
