We offer training programs and tournaments for all ages and levels. Welcome to Chess in Nelson! Koha: $5.

Our courses focus on strategy, creativity, and problem-solving in a friendly, supportive environment. We have two programs open to all ages:

- "Chess: The Art of Creativity" is our teaching boot camp for new players, beginners, and intermediates to learn the basics and advanced strategies. We meet every Tuesday from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm at the Victory Community Centre, 2 Totara Street. Price: $12 p

🏆 On Wednesday, 26 August, we'll be holding our Doubles Tournament at the Tahunanui Community Hub - Te Tari Hapori ki Tahunanui from 5:45 to 8:15pm.

Teams will be randomly paired on the night, making it a fun and social event for everyone.

Looking for a fun and engaging extracurricular activity?

Checkmate Knight is a weekly after-school chess programme where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration and confidence through interactive lessons, puzzles and games in a supportive environment.

The course is suitable for both beginners and students with previous chess experience, with activities tailored to different skill levels.
