🏆 NIELSEN CUP 2026 – CONGRATULATIONS BOB DRUMMOND! 🏆

What an incredibly exciting Nielsen Cup competition we have had this year!

🥇 Winner – Bob Drummond
🥈 Runner-up – David Sampson
🥉 Third – Ross Harper

The Nielsen Cup, first presented by J N Nielsen in 1979, is one of Coromandel Golf Club’s treasured club honours.

The competition is played as Handicap Stableford, best two of three rounds, and Bob put two outstanding rounds together to take out the 2026 Cup.

It is a fantastic achievement for Bob, who is new to golf and a new member of our club. To win such a treasured club competition is something to be very proud of.

What a wonderful achievement, Bob! 🏆👏

A huge thank you to all the men who competed in this year’s Nielsen Cup. It was an absolute pleasure to see so many club members taking part and competing for this much, loved trophy.

🏆 MEN’S NIELSEN CUP – FINAL ROUND

Saturday is the third and final round of the Men’s Nielsen Cup, with the winner decided on their best two of three Stableford rounds.

The Nielsen Cup, first presented by J N Nielsen in 1979, is one of Coromandel Golf Club’s most treasured honours.

🔥 Everything is still to play for! There is very little separating the top 10 recorded scores, so Saturday’s final round could make all the difference.

Who will lift this historic trophy in 2026? 🏆

A BIG shout-out to all our wonderful volunteers who came along today to help with coring the greens. 🙌

With everyone pitching in, we managed to get the job completed in record time! What a fantastic effort from our members, we really do appreciate your time and hard work. ❤️

And a special thank you to our ladies for the wonderful morning tea. What a bonus after all that hard work!

⛳️ The course will reopen tomorrow.

Please bear with us over the next few days as putting may be a little challenging while the greens recover. It’s all part of keeping them in great condition.

⛳ COURSE CLOSED MONDAY – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🌱

The course will be closed on Monday from 8.00am while we core the greens.

We still need volunteers to help with this important course maintenance work. 🙏

If you can spare some time on Monday morning, we would be ever so grateful for your help. Every extra pair of hands makes the job so much easier and gets us back out on the course sooner!

🏌️‍♀️ JUNIOR GOLF CANCELLED TOMORROW 🏌️‍♂️

We’re sorry for the late notice, but unfortunately Junior Golf is cancelled tomorrow, Sunday 13 September.

Our member coaches are unavailable to take the session this week. They’ll be back on board and ready to go next Sunday.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

⛳️ A COUPLE OF CHANGES AROUND THE COURSE 🌿

Some lovely changes have been made around the course, with a special connection to our club’s history.

A cover has been built over the memorial seat on the 9th tee, dedicated to our much loved Life Member, Patron and Forever Member, Ron Evans.

You can now sit on Ron’s seat, stay dry, take a moment to remember Ron, and enjoy the wonderful view across the 9th fairway that he treasured so much.

The new cover has already been affectionately named “The Bus Shelter”! 🚌😂

Over beside the 10th tee, the camellia bush in the garden has been removed. It has been a labour of love looking after it for so many years, but unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye.

Removing it has opened up the view of the beautiful garden Ron & Joan Evans created so many years ago. We can now see and appreciate the CGC hedging.

It’s wonderful to be able to make a few changes while still celebrating and remembering the people who have helped make our club what it is today.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who gave their time, energy and skills to complete both of these projects. 💚⛳️

🎉 YOU’RE INVITED – COME AND CELEBRATE WITH US! 🎉

The Coromandel Golf Club warmly invites members, past members and the wider community to join us as we celebrate the restoration of our historic Slaughterhouse & Woolshed.

📅 Sunday 27 September
⛳ Fun 9-Hole Golf – 1.00pm
🏠 Formal Opening – approximately 3.00pm
🍻Roof Shout to follow!

These buildings have played an important part in the history of our community, and we know how much the Slaughterhouse and Woolshed have meant to the people of Coromandel over the years.

Although no longer used for their original purpose, they have been given a new lease of life and are now being put to good use for the needs and activities of the Golf Club.

Come along to see the restoration, share some memories and celebrate the incredible work that has gone into bringing these special buildings back to life.

Most importantly, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, skills, hard work and generously donated materials. It has been so gratefully received. ❤️

Whether you join us for a few fun holes, come along for the opening, or simply catch up with friends and neighbours, we’d love to see you there!
