Squad Spotlight - Joe

Despite being somewhat injury-prone, there’s no denying the impact Joe can have when he gets onto the pitch.

Like a pit bull nipping at your ankles from behind, Joe relentlessly pursues his man, putting pressure on opponents and forcing them off the ball before they can get anywhere near the back line.

His work rate and persistence make him a nightmare for opposition attackers. He keeps chasing, keeps pressing, and never seems to give his man a moment to breathe.

Joe might spend a bit too much time in the physio room, but when he’s fit and firing, the Axes have a player who can make a huge difference 🖤💛🪓

Squad Spotlight - Jay

This week we're shining the spotlight on Jay, who came incredibly close to taking out Player of the Year, and it’s easy to see why.

Jay brings energy, pace and versatility to the Axes, capable of playing on both wings as well as either wing-back position. His ability to keep up with players running at him, while also turning on the burners and driving forward himself, makes him a constant threat.

A player who can turn defence into attack in a heartbeat, Jay gives the team options all over the pitch and has proven himself to be a massive asset to the squad.

Squad Spotlight - Tai

This week we're shining the spotlight on Tai, a new face to the Ōhau FC ranks who has quickly made his mark on the left wing.

Known for his sharp footwork and ability to pull off a cheeky nutmeg or two, Tai brings plenty of flair to the pitch. He's also got a habit of favouring the outside of his right foot rather than reaching for the left, and when he gets a burst of speed, defenders better be ready!

Comfortable covering most positions across the pitch, Tai has already proven himself to be a versatile and valuable addition to the Axes.

We're excited to see plenty more from Tai in the black and gold 🖤💛🪓

⚽ SEASON FINALE ⚽

Yesterday we played our final game of the season against the Ōtaki Master Blasters, walking off the pitch with a 4-3 win! 💛🖤

We then celebrated in style back at the clubrooms with our very first ever prize giving. A huge milestone for our small-town club on the coast, and a moment we’re incredibly proud of. We’ve come a long way, and it’s been amazing to see Ōhau FC grow throughout the season.

🏆 Player of the Year: Kane
An invaluable player to the club, consistently putting in the work and giving everything on the pitch.

🏆 Youth Player of the Year: Carter
A formidable presence on the pitch who has grown into a fantastic player and an important part of our club.

A special shoutout to Zaafran Taste of Morocco for feeding our lads and guests with delicious kebabs and chips for prize giving 🌯🍟 Thank you for helping us celebrate in style!

A huge thank you to our players, supporters, volunteers and everyone who has backed Ōhau FC this season. We couldn’t have done it without you.

This week we're shining the spotlight on Luke, a reliable and composed presence at the back who is always ready to put in the full 90.

Calm under pressure and level-headed with his teammates, Luke keeps running right through to the final whistle and isn't afraid to throw himself into a last-ditch tackle when the team needs him.

A rock at the back and a player you can always count on, both on the pitch and in the clubrooms, where he's never far away from a well-earned craft beer🍺

Unfortunately, it wasn’t our day yesterday, with the lads going down 5-2 to Waikanae AFC Hawks.

A tough result for the team and the club, but that’s football. We’ll regroup, keep our heads up and look ahead to our final game of the season. 💛🖤

One more game to go, so let’s finish the season together!

If there’s one thing you can count on with Armari, it’s pace. This man is extremely quick… sometimes even a little too quick for his own good! 😂

He loves getting down the line, beating his man and then drilling a dangerous cross into the box ⚽️💨

Armari is always looking for ways to improve his game and has been a regular presence for the Axes this season, featuring in most of our games and putting in the work whenever he steps onto the pitch 🖤💛

🏆 HK CUP | MATCH RESULT 🏆

Yesterday we faced off against Waikanae AFC Jets in the HK Cup. Unfortunately, we went down 4-2, bringing our cup campaign to an end.

👏 Man of the Match goes to young Murphy! What a fighter. He was knocked down time and time again, but every time he got back up, dusted himself off and kept pushing. His determination, resilience and never-give-up attitude really stood out💪💛🖤

A tough result, but plenty for the boys to be proud of. Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout!
