So proud of this epic mahi from Stefe and Sarah from Edgewater College, who spent six weeks refurbishing a set of bikes for their school.

The girls were among our first After School Bike Club participants — a free, drop-in, two-hour supervised bike workshop for young people every Thursday during term time at Pakuranga Bike Hub, starting at 3.30pm.

A huge thanks to our coordinator, Kelvin Aris, for encouraging the girls to get involved and sharing his skills and mentorship along the way.

This mahi wouldn't have been possible without the support of Howick Local Board, Auckland Transport, Enviroschools, AWHI Enviro Club, and Edwater College's Science teacher Gloria Hinestroza — thank you all for helping make this happen!

Come along and learn how to maintain your own bike, or help refurbish donated bikes — all tools and training provided.

The CRL had its first weekday morning rush this week — and naturally, someone had to test whether biking could keep up! 🚲🚄

😄"I have to admit I did want to win this on behalf of the biking community so I got my race face on," says one determined rider, who kicked things off with an easy 13km ride to the start near Glen Eden — "the third best Glen in Auckland, and probably the best Eden."

That's exactly what we're here for.

Our Bike Hubs are part of Auckland Transport's wider network of bike hubs across Auckland, offering free tool access, maintenance advice, and second-hand bikes and parts — helping our communities learn the skills to service and repair their own rides, for free.

Come on down to the hub and find what could be your next two-wheeled adventure, or bring in your current ride for some TLC.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori — Māori Language Week — starts today and runs through to 20 September, with this year's theme Ake, Ake, Ake: A Forever Language.

Swipe through for a few words to take with you next time you're at the hub ☺️

Wīra (wheels), mekameka (chain), pōtae mārō (helmet), hānara (handlebar) — and the word for the whole thing: paihikara, bicycle.

Across Tāmaki Makaurau, our 9 community Bike Hubs are open Thursday to Sunday (10am to 2pm) with free tools, friendly advice, and a hand fixing up whatever's been sitting in the shed all winter.

Since we started, more than 100,000 people have come through our hubs. And we'd love to see more of you soon! 👋
