Finally got to one of my own bikes this weekend.
I knew something wasn’t right in the damping leg of the manitou circus forks on the dirt jumper. Some funny noises after a few heavy landings at Gorge Rd😬
But after pulling them apart and removing all the broken bits I couldn’t bring myself to order another plastic replacement part that will probably break again…
…Time to fire up the lathe😁
The new aluminium part, above, allows for a slightly larger oil bath and more clearance from the damper rod piston at full stroke (which I suspect is what broke it anyway🤨)
Also took advantage of having the forks apart to put in new foam rings and replace the oil with a slightly thicker grade for more damping.
If none of that means anything to you; it’s just better!

Been crazy busy, getting more and more bikes in. The word is spreading!

Haven’t done a post in a while but here’s a pic of the new bearing with the exploded one that was rattling around inside the hub.
Might explain the rumbles…

Any fellow DMR pedal lovers out there?
If your V8’s, V12’s, Vaults etc are creaky, rattling, toothless wrecks on bent axles then let give them some aroha.
We’ll get them as good as new.
