🌱 Growing Future Farmers Open Day 🐑

Elite Wool Industry Training Director and Trainer Noel Handley was busy today at the Growing Future Farmers Open Day, meeting prospective students interested in joining the programme in 2027.

A fantastic effort from Year 2 student Fynn Archbold, who did a great job demonstrating his skills in front of a large crowd! 👏

A huge thank you to Fiona Bush and Amy Priest for organising the day, and to Rowan Nesbit for going out of his way to supply the sheep and help make the demonstration possible.

It was fantastic to see the skills and confidence being developed through the Growing Future Farmers programme on display!

Beginner Shearing Course Success 🐑

Another very successful Beginner Shearing Course was held at Springvale Station, Tikokino, last week!

A big thank you to Elite trainer Neil Waihape for sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with a fantastic group of learners who were eager to develop their shearing skills.

We’d also like to thank farmer Tim Moat and Stock Manager Hamish McInnes for generously providing the sheep, facilities and support that made the course possible.

It’s fantastic to see another group of learners gaining valuable hands-on experience, building their confidence and developing practical skills for the wool industry.

Well done to everyone involved! 👏

🐑 Second In-Shed Follow-Up Complete! ✂️

We’ve now wrapped up the second of three in-shed follow-ups for the Zentera/ZQ Shearing & Woolhandling Programme!

It’s been great getting back out into the sheds once again and seeing the continued progress across both shearing and woolhandling. Participants are continuing to build their skills, confidence and consistency while putting their training into practice in a real working environment. 💪

These follow-ups give our trainers the opportunity to work alongside participants on the job, reinforce what was covered during the initial course, and help fine-tune their skills as they continue to develop.

📸 A few snaps from our second round of follow-ups — another great effort from everyone involved!

One more round to go, and we’re looking forward to seeing how everyone continues to progress.

A huge thank you again to Zentera/ZQ, the growers, contractors and everyone supporting the programme and helping us continue to strengthen skills and quality across the wool industry. 🐑

📰 Great to see wool education and training in the spotlight!

Elite Wool Industry Training recently joined Zentera Wool Company and Otago/Southland Young Farmers for a Wool Education & Animal Welfare Day near Gore.

Elite Trainer Bruce Walker gave the young farmers a hands-on introduction to some of the key skills around shearing and crutching, equipment set-up, grinding and grinder safety, along with important animal welfare practices. 🐑

A great opportunity to give the next generation some practical knowledge and confidence they can take back into the shed and onto the farm.

🐑 First In-Shed Follow-Up Complete! ✂️

We’ve just wrapped up the first of three in-shed follow-ups for the Zentera/ZQ Shearing & Woolhandling Programme, following on from last month’s training course.

It’s been great getting back out into the sheds and seeing everyone putting their training into practice in a real working environment. The progress across both shearing and woolhandling has been really encouraging, with participants continuing to build their skills, confidence and consistency. 💪

These follow-ups are an important part of the programme — giving our trainers the chance to work alongside participants on the job, reinforce what was covered during the course, and fine-tune skills as they continue to develop.

📸 We didn’t manage to get photos of everyone this time around, but a big well done to everyone involved!

Next week we head into our second round of in-shed follow-ups, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more progress.

A huge thank you again to Zentera/ZQ, the growers, contractors and everyone supporting this programme. Your support helps us continue strengthening skills, confidence and quality right at the start of the wool supply chain. 🐑
