Fourball Round 2
Congratulations to everyone who won their Fourball Round 2 matches yesterday and progressed through to the next round.
Commiserations to those whose Fourball campaigns came to an end, and thank you to everyone who competed. There were some good matches played, and we now move another step closer to finding our 2026 Fourball champions.
Sunday Stableford
Well done also to everyone who played in yesterdayβs Stableford, and congratulations to those who featured amongst the prizes.
It was really good to see some of our newest members from the KΔpiti area make the trip up to Buckley to participate in our weekly Haggle. Itβs great to see new members getting involved and becoming part of the club.
A big thank you as well to all of our local members who continue to turn up week after week and support our Sunday Haggle. The continued support of our regular members, alongside new members joining us from further afield, is what helps make our Sundays at Buckley what they are.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported another good Sunday of golf at Buckley.
Stu Smith Memorial β Menβs Masters Quadrangular
The 2026 Stu Smith Memorial Menβs Masters Quadrangular was played at Levin Golf Club this past Saturday and Sunday.
The Stu Smith Memorial is a representative teams competition, with Manawatu-Wanganui, Wellington, Hawkeβs Bay and Taranaki competing against each other over the weekend.
Congratulations to Wellington, who successfully defended the Stu Smith Memorial and took the trophy home again for 2026.
The final standings were:
1st β Wellington: 3 / 18.5
2nd β Hawkeβs Bay: 1.5 / 11.5
3rd β Manawatu-Wanganui: 1 / 8.5
4th β Taranaki: 0.5 / 9.5
Earlier this year, Buckley had three members involved in the Manawatu-Wanganui representative trial process, so I thought I would also give members an update on how things eventually played out.
Unfortunately, I was not selected for the Manawatu-Wanganui Masters team this year.
Our Club President Lance Close also took part in the trials but withdrew after Round 2 of the three-round trial series due to his recent shoulder surgery.
Our third Buckley member involved in the trials earned selection for the Manawatu-Wanganui team, which was a great achievement. Unfortunately, he was unable to make the playing dates and subsequently had to withdraw from the team.
While things didnβt quite work out for our three players this year, having three Buckley members involved in the representative trial process and one earning selection is still something positive for our club and hopefully something we can build on in future seasons.
This Sunday β Par Format
This coming Sunday 27 September, our weekly competition will be Par format.
Come along, get involved in the weekly Haggle and enjoy another Sunday at the club.
