Yesterday, a couple of friends and myself took a drive out to Putaruru and walked along Te Waihou Walkway, along to the Blue Springs. Wow, what a fabulous walk - the water is AMAZING.
If you haven't done it, I would seriously recommend it.
We walked from the Whites Rd end, and as we walked along the river it just got more amazing and more blue - culminating in fabulousness at the Blue Springs. The weather was a little hit and miss - but I can imagine on a sunny day it would be stunning. We'll definitely be going back.
We also popped into Tirau for a little lunch, a look at the beautiful, if rather expensive, home and interiors shops, and a visit to the Nothing Naughty shop. I was hoping for a few specials in the shop, but the only thing on special were some seconds bars (package issues I think). Needless to say, I did buy myself a few 😏

I have had a lovely week off - much needed time to slow down and take a breather.
How lucky are we to have had 3 wonderful yoga teachers help me out last week? HUGE thanks to Miriam, Bec and Laura. All amazing yoga teachers, all with their own style.
So nice to be able to leave my studio in safe hands πŸ™

I'm really looking forward to getting back to the studio, classes and clients next week. And actually, I'm looking forward to getting back to some routine.
It's been really nice to go with the flow, to feel free and be spontaneous. I've done things I don't normally do - and that's been wonderful.
But, I also need a bit of structure in my life.
Habits and routine help to reduce stress - less to have to think about.
Consistency helps me to reach my goals faster too - especially where fitness is concerned. A wee break has been lovely, but I can't wait to get back into gym and lifting heavy again πŸ’ͺπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

It's all about balance - finding that sweet spot between structure and flexibility. I'm working on it.

One thing I will definitely be changing - no more working on a Sunday! Come on Beks, give yourself one day off a week!!

I am so excited & feeling really grateful today.
We are just 2 members away from reaching full capacity at Body MInd Studio!

Now, I know what you're thinking, Here we go - cheesy, tired, dishonest sales tactic!
I've worked in a big gym and I know that's how it works - it was actually really embarrassing because it was so obvious we were not at capacity!

But if you know my little studio - you'll know we are not a big gym.
We do not have endless memberships available.
It is so important to me to protect the community, energy & human connection that makes us unique. I want you all to have space to move and breathe.
And that is only achieved by staying small.

When I started, I wanted to create a safe, friendly, bright space focused on strength, community, and support.
Seeing it come to life is a dream come true.

So, if you've been thinking about joining our little family, this is your sign.
Maybe for yourself, your partner, mum, sister, cousin, daughter?

We have just 2 spaces left, before we launch our waitlist.
What a fabulous position for me and Body Mind Studio to be in.

What's included:
βœ… Access to our friendly boutique gym
βœ… Option to add a weekly class to your membership
βœ… Shower facilities, for those before work sessions
βœ… Access to me πŸ˜€ I'm here to help you however I can. Exercise & nutrition advice, personal training, motivation and guidance.

Hey Any ladies out there interested in going along to see this woman? One of our members mentioned her to me - I had a look at her website and Facebook. She seems a wealth of knowledge and super fun as well. Should be a good night out.
Anyone keen? Tues 22nd Sept at the Mount Club.
Let’s get together and car share.

It's never too late to pick up some weights.
The benefits far out way any risk you might be concerned about.
In fact, there is more risk to your health and wellbeing if you don't pick them up!

One of my regular class members at Summerset retirement village added some strength training 3 months ago. I did a gym session with about 25 village members, and got them set up with a strength training programme.

This lady came up to me at class the other day to tell me that her blood results (she didn't say which ones) have all come back better than they were 3 months ago.
The only thing she has changed - adding regular strength training.

She was so pleased and so encouraged that something so simple could make such a difference.
I LOVE this!

So, what are you waiting for?
Get in touch today and let's get you strong.

Now I know women aren't small men. Gosh, you simply can't get away from that saying. And I get it, I really do.
There are real physiological differences between men & women.

But, here's the thing - not all women are the same.
Women vary significantly from one another based on life stages, hormones, and genetics. There is not a one-size-fits-all for women.

Please do carry on listening to the info out there.
There is some great research for women in regards to exercise and training, and working with our changing bodies rather than against them.

But also recognise your individuality.
Just because someone says you "should" do this because you're a woman, doesn't mean you have to.
It doesn't mean it's the best thing for you.

I follow a few well known health & fitness 'experts' (some are surgeons, some have a PhD in health/exercise fields, some are personal trainers, physio's, or sports personalities), and often the information one person gives contradicts with what another says!

One says Zone 2 training isn't good for women.
Another says Zone 2 training is good!

One says you should fuel yourself in the morning - another is quite happy to wait until 10am to eat.

Now that is just downright confusing!
Don't let all the noise overwhelm you and put you off training.

You know yourself better than anyone.
If something feels good for you - then do it.
Love running - feel good running? Keep doing it.
Likewise, if it doesn't feel good - don't do it!
Hate HIIT? don't do it - find something else you enjoy that can give you similar benefits.

The core principles of training remain the same - build muscle mass and bone density, improve heart and lung health.

Don't know where to start?
Remember I'm here to help guide you if needed.
You're unique - let's get together and create a programme that works for you.
