Sunday 29th September saw the return of what was once the Copper 8’s but now rebranded with new sponsorship the NZHL Waiuku 8’s.
We take our hats off to Alan Tauroa-Barnett as the driving force behind getting this up & running again.
With 4 ladies teams taking part, 2 of which were from Waiuku a great day was had all around with plenty of games each.
Needless to say the Waiuku Young Ladies took out the top spot with the WWW Old Girls coming in 2nd - I reckon we’ll get them next year 😉

So it may not have been a win for the Wolverines, but it was a good fair game for us ladies (no rugby tackles). Cheers Western Springs & Happy birthday Dev!

Our Wolverines Reserves have an 11am kick off against Manukau City Wahine Toa at Walter Massey Park.

Our Warriettes Prems have a 1pm Kick off against Western Springs at Seddon Fields.
Let’s hope the Wolverines aren’t in for another rugby match & the Warriettes have another convincing win.
Let’s go ladies 🥇

Last game of 2023 for Warriettes played Sunday 10th September over on Waiheke Island & let’s just say I think we all enjoyed the booze more than the game, but what a season as a team we’ve had together.
Roll on 2024!

Sunday 9th July our Womens Warriettes also played their 2nd round cup match at home against Bay Olympic. The 1st half saw our local ladies stall getting into the game, with Bay Olympic taking a few shots to help warm up goalie Mals & we had plenty of strikes at the goal but none hitting the net to start the points tally leaving the game nil all at half time (I’m counting at least 6 misses).
Kick off 2nd half & due to R18 sensors we can only leave what coach Royce messaged Keegan to relay to the team as a mystery, but Warriettes found quick form & within 2 minutes Ashley Cowley put us on the scoreboard. 10 minutes in & Mals Taylor was back diving to defend the retaliation from Bay Olympic. A penalty goal kick from Ash was bang on, only to be stopped by the BO goalies quick reactions.
2 corner kicks later we saw Parween Metzler position herself in just the right spot becoming another WAFC goal scorer. 14 minutes left in the game saw Jordyn Hobman score our goal number 3 & then follow through 5 minutes later with another.
Warriettes had a great team effort, with our defensive line, midfield, wingers & of course goalie all adding to the final outcome of a 4-0 win & moving onto the next round once again at home against Auckland United FC Diamonds 6th August.
Moment of the Match went to Christel van den Berg and Player of the Day went to Paige Ridling.
Thanks again to our supporters & helpers on the day Baz, Mo Dave & Brett (for encouraging sideline words).
