NZ Rugby and Wellington Rugby are currently running Contact Ready, a FREE girls rugby programme aimed at teenage girls aged 12 to 17 years old.

πŸ”ΉWhat is Contact Ready?

Contact Ready is a free introductory programme made especially for teenage girls aged 12 to 17 years old, who are new, in their first year of rugby, or who are playing non-contact versions of the game. The goal is to enhance player safety and confidence when transitioning into contact versions of rugby through learning the basics of correct technique.

It's all about providing a safe space to learn and practice with girls of similar abilities, to make friends, and grow their love of the game.

πŸ”ΉThe Experience

There are six progressive sessions all approximately 70 minutes long, delivered by trained Contact Ready coaches, run on Sundays 1pm League Park.

Players will learn how to warm up their body through a warm-up and primers designed by our in-house physiotherapist. They will learn the basics of how to tackle, be tackled, and how to land safely through a wide range of games and activities, helping them build good foundations and confidence to play and train at their school or club.

The programme design has prioritised safety, building connections and confidence as well as foster a heap of feel-good moments, all while ensuring players become Contact Ready, for contact rugby.

Congratulations to our Boys 1st XI team who beat HIBS 4th XI on Saturday to win the Premier 4 grade!!

Tawa College partnered with Aotea College and Whitby Collegiate this season to play cricket under the Northern United banner.

Our boys maintained their 2025 record of not losing a game when batting first, posting 189/8 from their 50 overs and dismissing HIBS for 102 in the 29th over.

As always, it was a great team effort and the game was played within the spirit of cricket by both teams.

The game caps off another successful term of cricket for this 1st XI. We are grateful for time and effort of the coach and manager, as well as the unwavering support of parents and whānau.

It's been a busy time for our summer codes over the past 2 weeks, with TC teams attending Volleyball Regionals, Futsal Regionals, Softball Champs and Athletics Qualifiers.

While results were mixed, it was great to see so many of our students out there taking part in the sports they love.

A massive thank you to all the coaches, parent helpers, managers and volunteers who give their time and expertise so willingly - we are incredibly grateful for your support.

A proud day for our kura as four former students were part of the Academy Series – Sam Doyle Memorial Trophy at Massey on Saturday.

Congratulations to Malachi Osman (centre/second five) who has been offered an academy contract with Hawke's Bay Rugby Union following a strong campaign with Tawa College last year. Hawke’s Bay went unbeaten across four matches to claim the Sam Doyle Memorial Trophy, with wins over Manawatu (28–14) and Wellington (27–17).

Also representing with pride were Eden Govind (first five) and Labront Muldrock-Tolai (winger), both showcasing their talent at academy level. Cliff Hunt was unfortunately sidelined due to injury.

Well done guys!
