Former Karori Rifle Club member Lawrie Fair was farewelled today after passing away just before Christmas.
He was 97.
Although a ”quieter” club member he would be quick to join in a joke or laugh & enjoyed a chat & the social side of shooting.
A solid B grader who frequented local prizemeets & the odd one further afar often hitching a ride with a clubmate.
An enthusiastic team shooter, with a good coach he’d post some competitive scores but most importantly he shot for fun.
I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying his age was higher than his average weekly score.
An all round good guy.
Cheers

EVAN WEMYSS RAIT – 28 October 1942 – 20 January 2021
It is with sadness that I report the passing of Evan Rait, long time member of the Karori Rifle Club and exceptional stock builder of all calibres of rifle.
Evan attended at Trentham regularly for many years in the era of the late Peter Plim, Din and Viv Collings. He never entered local or national competitions, he was always content with simply trialling his exceptional stocks on his various rifles and getting wonderful results. He enjoyed the company of the members of the Karori Rifle Club on Saturday afternoons. The woodworking skills of this gentleman are from a bygone era.
Evan’s funeral will be held at Whenua Tapu Crematorium Chapel, Airlie Road, Pukerua Bay on Tuesday 26 January 2021 from 11am.
