CANDo 2026 CAN Do is where Aotearoa’s cycling changemakers come together to shape the future of streets, communities and active transport advocacy.

In the newly formed Friends of the Whanganui Library, there has been a lot of talk about lack of parking. I have brought up the lack of bike parks (about 5-6) and that no buses get close. Currently the bike park is never full, but, nearly always, there is a motorbike in there, presumably because there is no motorbike park and they parked there b4 it became bike parking. Come summer I suspect there'll be a shortage of bike parks.

I'd like to hear some comments from you before I put forward just my personal view.

She smiled as she jumped off her e-cargo bike. Just not long ago, she had been cross; her moody teenage son - again slow to unstack the dishwasher. She had gritted her teeth and tried with lightness to ask, for the umpteenth time, for him to unstack it soon, but failed - he picked up her mood and snapped back.

Thankfully she needed to pick up some gardening supplies from the garden centre a few k’s away. Grabbing a water bottle, she unlocked the bike, and set off down the drive. There was a separated cycleway just at the end of her road that lead her to near the garden centre. The clouds scudded across the sky, the wind was fresh, and she noticed the bright green of new spring growth. She breathed deeply, and there it was again - that old cycling magic; it never failed to arrive.

How to bike to work in the rain (and not turn up a drowned rat) About three percent of urban New Zealanders are considered “committed” bike riders, and even fewer get in the seat rain, hail or shine. But some do.

That you are! Every Monday Cath will lead a Ladies Ride at 5.30pm from our carpark.

All bikes, all ages, all stages. All Welcome 🤗

The plan is a controlled warm up with bunch skills + yarns to Mosquito Point then return to town for a different hill challenge each week 💪 Join in as we head down Dublin Street along Somme Parade and peel off any time.

If the weather’s looking yuck, we’ll pull the pin by 4:30pm on stories.

Hi Everyone
Just putting it out there we are running a bit low on voluenteers and finding it harder to keep up with the work.

Would anyone be interested in helping on a Tuesday after work if we stayed open till 8pm?

Our first project would be to donate a bunch of bikes to Okoia school but they need servicing first.

Anyone interested can FB message us or just drop in.
