Heiva Tu'aro Maohi of the Polynesian triangle July 12, 13 and 14, 2025 for the Tu'aro Mā'ohi events. The fruit-carrier races will be held in their usual setting of Paofai Gardens: an ideal, friendly and safe site, as much for the comfort and safety of the public as for the athletes' performances.
The Tu’aro Ma’ohi events (javelin, stone lifting, copra, coconut climbing, taputo Ma’ohi, Rore etc.) are scheduled to take place at the Musée de Tahiti.
In addition to our Archipelago Aito, this Heiva Tu’aro Mā’ohi will, as has become customary, take on an international dimension with the participation of several athletes from the Polynesian Triangle, notably from New Zealand, Hawai’i, Rapa Nui, Samoa, California and the Cook Islands.
Like previous editions of the event, which are open to the outside world, it will contribute to the cultural and tourist influence of the Pacific, our culture and the destination of Tahiti and its islands.
A number of cultural activities, games and traditional entertainment, scheduled simultaneously with the Tu’aro Mā’ohi events, will ensure that the public never gets bored, as they can switch from one entertainment to another.
A “Ma’a Tahiti” is scheduled for midday, and an “ahima’a” (Tahitian oven) will be prepared on site.
Dance performances are also scheduled between 12:00 and 1:30 pm, with groups from the archipelagos not seen at Heiva i Tahiti: the Marquesans, a group from Mangareva and the Australes.
There will also be stalls for craftspeople, tattoo artists, traditional masseurs, sales and exhibitions of local products and sculptors.
The “Heiva Va’a Taie” is also scheduled as part of this Heiva Tu’aro Ma’ohi. This event is beginning to attract international and local interest.
The event has both a sporting and a cultural dimension, with regattas, introductions to ancestral sailing and workshops on traditional navigation.
