PNG Games Council set to meet in Mendi

PORT MORESBY: The PNG Games Council will meet in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province next week to review the progress of preparations for the 2020 PNG Games.
Head of PNG Games Mr. John Susuve said the Chairman of the Games Council Mr. Peter Tsiamalili Junior has confirmed 4th of December as the date for the meeting to convene for the executive council and the 22 General Council members.
“The purpose of the meeting is to ensure members and stakeholders partners must see for themselves the current development of infrastructure and civil works taking place in Mendi.
“It is important that the decisions must be made in regards to what is transpiring currently, and the dates earmarked for the Games in 2020.
“Further the council will have to compile a report through the members to present to the Vice Sport Minister Hon. Wesley Raminai who will also be on the ground along with the HOC Chairman and the Department of National Planning on the status of developments currently in Mendi.”
Susuve said members of the 22 provinces are requested to contact the PNG Games Council Secretariat through Thomas Kahai and Raina Wareba to facilitate preparations for ticketing and travel movements for one provincial representative only to Mendi from their respective provinces.
“It is important this must be done now so members should be arriving in Mendi by the 2nd and 3rd of December for the meeting to proceed on the 4th of December.”
“It will be an important opportunity to physically assess together and properly scrutinize the development of this meeting so that important decisions are made at the end of the day.” He added.
