Zara Wanderers Undefeated Throughout Tournament, Dominate Kempa to Claim Title of the Inaugural Nambawan Medical Centre T10 Preaseason Competition last weekend on the King's Birthday Holiday, 17th June 2024.

In an exhilarating cricket match, the Zara Wanderers and Kempa put on a display of resilience and skill that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The match saw both teams battling hard, with momentum swinging back and forth before the Zara Wanderers emerged victorious and claimed the tournament title.

To start the match off, Mavara opened the bowling and managed to dismiss Micah Pokana in the first over. Pokana whipped the ball off his pads straight to Sondra Agnes Alex, a 16-year-old, who took a spectacular catch. This catch set the trend for the Wanderers, boosting their confidence and tightening their grip on the match.

Kempa found themselves in deep trouble at the halfway mark of 5 overs with only 10 runs on the board. Their innings seemed doomed until Varigini stepped up and played a crucial knock. His efforts helped Kempa recover and post a respectable total of 60 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Varigini's contribution was vital, showing a mix of patience and aggression that stabilized the innings. Among the bowlers, Ravini Oa took a key wicket, and sharp fielding resulted in two run outs.

The Wanderers' run chase got off to a rocky start, losing three key wickets early. Toua Nou was dismissed for 5 runs, Kevau Frank for 4 runs, and Frank Colin Naime for 6 runs, leaving the team at 20 runs at the 4-over mark. Ravini then added 5 runs before being dismissed, which brought Rea Tau to the crease.

Rea Tau, pairing up with Hane Donald Tau, orchestrated a remarkable recovery. Demonstrating composure and skill, Rea Tau played a match-winning innings, remaining unbeaten with 30 runs, including 2 sixes and 3 fours. Hane Donald Tau supported him well, contributing an unbeaten 5 runs.

The partnership between Rea Tau and Hane Donald Tau ensured that the Wanderers surpassed Kempa's total of 62 runs with the loss of only 4 wickets and 11 balls to spare. Rea Tau’s stellar performance under pressure was the highlight of the match, earning him the Male Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 30 runs, featuring 2 sixes and 3 fours.

Hane Donald Tau was named the Female Player of the Match for her exceptional bowling performance. She bowled 1 over, taking 2 wickets for no runs, playing a crucial role in restricting Kempa to a manageable total.

This thrilling encounter showcased the resilience and fighting spirit of both teams. Kempa's late surge, led by Varigini, set up a challenging target, but the Zara Wanderers' determined chase, spearheaded by Rea Tau and backed by critical fielding moments like Sondra Agnes Alex's catch, ultimately secured a well-fought victory. The Zara Wanderers remained undefeated throughout the entire tournament, solidifying their dominance and claiming the title in spectacular fashion.
