THE Morobe Kandes launched their freshmen’s year in the 2026 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup with an impressive 26-16 victory over the East New Britain Gurias on Sunday at the Lae Rugby League Ground.

Ho**er Stanza Tandoa etched his name into the club’s history books by scoring the team’s opening try.

Though new to the Kandes, Tandoa is no stranger to semi-professional rugby league, having previously played for the Port Moresby Vipers and Enga Mioks. His experience proved invaluable as he guided the young side to victory.
