Sydney Roosters star Connor Watson is set to visit the PNG Chiefs after Saturday’s Magic Round clash with the North Queensland Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium.

The NSW Origin utility has been granted permission to negotiate with rival clubs and will tour the Chiefs set-up, following a similar visit by Jarome Luai.

PNG Chiefs are attracting quality NRL talent and the rest of the competition is already shaking.

Joseph Suaalii is reportedly not in talks with the proposed PNG Chiefs expansion side, despite recent speculation in Australian media.

The former Sydney Roosters star and current NSW Waratahs outside centre, Joseph Suaalii, has denied rumours suggesting he is set to sign with the PNG-based franchise.

Both Suaalii’s management and the PNG Chiefs dismissed the reports, describing them as β€œcomplete rubbish.”

Suaalii remains under contract with NSW Waratahs and Rugby Australia until the end of 2027, effectively ruling out any immediate move.

The PNG Chiefs expansion side also moved to shut down the speculation, confirming there is no agreement or negotiations involving the player at this stage.

It seems every player in the NRL and beyond is now linked with the PNG Chiefs. The Australian media needs to calm down.

The Vipers kept the pressure on when Martin Yanda crossed in the 70th minute to set up a tense finish, but the home side failed to convert the try as the Muruks held on for a narrow two-point win.

The physical encounter featured intense defensive exchanges, heavy interchange rotations throughout the second half, and late drama in the closing minutes.

Vipers players Yomo Yakopa and Ishmael Vaieke were both sin-binned in the 78th minute, while Muruks forward Limbi Henry was sent off in the same minute as tensions boiled over late in the match.
