Last month, there was a rumor going around that DUPR will be introducing “DUPR Reset” which gives players a chance to reset their DUPR ratings in case they feel like it doesn’t reflect their current skills. At that point, DUPR addressed it vaguely, not really giving a clear answer if it’s going to happen.

Last week, the club received an invitation to join a webinar to explain this feature. It’s at 1:00 AM PHT but we are dedicated in making sure that we are caught up with DUPR news for you!

Growing Together Through DUPR Open Plays

Our Open Plays have always been about community, sharing courts, meeting new people, and enjoying the game together. As the community grew, so did the desire to understand our games better and create more balanced, enjoyable matchups for everyone.

The early steps toward DUPR match–recorded Open Plays began with Rapid Pickleball, who introduced DUPR Open Play sessions and showed that recording matches could be a simple way to track growth while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.

As more players became familiar with the system, SunRise Pickleball Crew brought DUPR into tournament play through the Supr Dupr Tournament, the first DUPR-based tournament in the province. This gave players a clearer experience of skill-based competition and highlighted how structure can enhance fairness and enjoyment on court.

From there, the practice naturally spread. SLAY & SERVE CO. began incorporating DUPR match recording into some of their Open Plays, helping players grow more comfortable seeing their games counted and reflected over time.

New formats also emerged alongside this shift. The Challenge Court, introduced by Kingcourts Pickleball x CVC, added a dynamic and motivating way for players to move up through performance and teamwork. The concept resonated with the community and has since been adapted into select Open Plays by groups such as Courtside Dinkers, Pickle Fridays and SLAY & SERVE CO., blending friendly competition with inclusivity.

What stands out in this journey is how players and groups learned from one another. Ideas were shared, formats were adapted, and the community collectively shaped what Open Play could become.

Today, many Open Plays being DUPR match recorded is not about pressure or rankings. It’s about helping players understand their progress, creating fairer games, and supporting those who want to prepare for tournaments, all while keeping the spirit of Open Play intact.

The courts still feel the same. Familiar faces, new friendships, laughter between points. The difference now is that our games tell a clearer story of how we’re growing together, one match at a time.

Our first open play this year turned out to be our biggest one! 45 players strong! So excited for what’s ahead. Huge thanks to those who joined us all the way from Manila. We had fun playing with you all!

As we welcome 2026, we want to thank all of you who joined us throughout 2025. It’s amazing to look back—our club started just last July with only 7 players at our very first open play. Since then, the growth has been overwhelming.
We’ve made lasting friendships, joined our first tournament as a club, and even hosted a fun dual meet tournament.
Here’s to more pickleball shenanigans, laughter, and memories this 2026! 🥳
