Volunteer coaches, especially in the province, may never become famous, but their impact can last generations.

Dear Coaches,

As a parent and a coach, I have learned that volunteer coaching especially in the province is never easy. Many of us train children on uneven fields, borrowed spaces, covered courts, or open grounds with limited equipment.

Some buy cones, balls, or snacks using personal money. Some travel far after work, carrying fatigue but still showing up because children are waiting.

The reality is, grassroots football in many towns survives not because of big funding or modern facilities — it survives because coaches choose not to give up.

Always remember: to many young athletes, we are more than coaches.

👉 We become listeners when they struggle.
👉 We become encouragers when they lose confidence.
👉We become disciplinarians when they need guidance.
👉Sometimes, we become the second parent they need.

Not every child we train will become a professional footballer. But through football, they may become
✅️disciplined adults,
✅️respectful individuals,
✅️resilient workers,
✅️responsible fathers, mothers, and
✅️citizens who know teamwork, sacrifice, and perseverance.

That is impact beyond trophies.

There will be days when progress feels slow. Days when few athletes attend. Days when support is lacking. Days when people question why we continue.

But imagine our communities without grassroots coaches.🤔

➡️Who will teach children healthy competition?
➡️Who will pull them away from destructive habits?
➡️Who will show them that hard work, patience, and respect matter?
➡️Who will keep football alive in small towns where dreams are often limited by opportunity?

Many young athletes continue believing because one coach kept showing up.
So to every grassroots coach quietly serving in the provinces:
🔰Your effort matters.
🔰Your sacrifices matter.
🔰Your patience matters.
🔰Your presence matters.

You may not always receive recognition, but somewhere in the future, a child you mentored will remember the coach who believed in them before anyone else did.

👍Keep building.
👍Keep teaching.
👍Keep inspiring.

Because developing football is not only about creating good players — it is about helping shape better people and stronger communities.

Mabuhay kayo.🫡

May God continue to give us strength as we guide the next generation. ⚽❤️🇵🇭

They feel behind.😔

Personally I felt that before, too. Nakita ko yung ibang players nakakakuha ng magagandang playing time, na endorsed at nakakapag laro na sa mas magagandang clubs and Academies, pinupuri. While ako, todo kayod pa rin, pero parang walang nakikitang progress, pagbabago at hinde parin napapansin.

That pressure? Sobrang bigat.😔
It can really mess with your head, especially if you allow it. Bigla kang magmamadali. Pipilitin mong gumaling agad. You start "Training for Approval, NOT for Actual Development". Diyan madalas nawawala ang focus at passion.

But here's the truth, mga coaches, players, and parents:

✅️Progress is NOT linear.

✅️Being behind DOES NOT mean you're failing. It might just mean you're building a stronger foundation. Tahimik kang nagpapakahirap, walang nakakapansin, walang shortcuts.

Breath!

➡️ Stay DISCIPLINED: Sundin ang training program. Huwag magpadala sa distractions.
➡️ Stay PATIENT. Ang paglago ay hindi overnight. It takes time and effort.
➡️ Keep Stacking Days.

And sa mga coaches and parents:
Let's create a safe and healthy environment for these young athletes. Be an inspiration, not a source of negativity.

Youth sports is about DEVELOPMENT, not just winning. Let's provide equal opportunities for playing time and improvement.

Remember, building character and instilling a love for the game are just as important as technical skills. Let’s help them build that strong foundation for long term development.

Matagal nadin na di ako nakapag update dito, kaya let me tell you a story at baka sakaling may mapupulot kayong aral😁.

“Do you still feel supported?”
“If you could change one thing, ano yun?”

1) Emotional well-being muna bago performance.
Kapag may bigat sa loob—takot, pressure, feeling left out—nagiging anxiety yan, tapos withdrawal.

2) It teaches them: safe akong kausap si Mama/Papa.

When we ask, we help them name it. “Masaya ako kasi…” “Hindi ako okay kasi…” That’s emotional intelligence.

4) Maaga nating nakikita ang problema.
Baka may bullying.

5) We’re building a growth mindset, not a win-at-all-costs mindset.
Ang message: “Importante ang growth mo at experience mo—not just medals.” Kapag ganito ang environment, mas natututo silang mag-try ulit pagkatapos matalo.

6) Resilience needs support.
Oo, sports teaches kids to be tough. Resilience is built in a safe space—hindi sa takot o hiya.

7) Team dynamics are real life training.
May friends, may inggitan, may tampuhan, may leader, may follower.

8) Positive experience = lifelong love for activity.
Kapag masaya sila ngayon, mas malaki ang chance they’ll stay active, healthy, and confident even as they grow older.

We’ll figure it out together.”

Bilang magulang naranasan nyo din ba to? Kayo naman ang mag kwento?😁👇

Being a coach and a parent is a tough balancing act, especially when your own child is on the team. It's easy for coaches to feel pressure to be extra critical of their kids, trying to avoid any accusations of favoritism. This can lead to kids feeling like they have a coach at home instead of a parent, especially during the season.

The pressure isn't just internal. Sadly, some parents on the sidelines might unfairly target the coach's child, hoping to find fault and fuel their own grievances. It's heartbreaking when a child's performance becomes a source of negativity. Some coaches, aware of this scrutiny, might even tone down their excitement for their own child's successes, creating an emotional distance.

It's important to remember why we coach: to foster growth and development in all our players, including our own children. Striking a balance between coaching and parenting can be challenging, but it's crucial for a healthy environment. We should strive to be supportive parents first and foremost, offering a listening ear and unconditional love alongside the coaching. Let's create a positive and encouraging space where every child, especially the coach's own, can thrive.

Tired of watching our Filipino sports dreams get sidelined? 🇵🇭

It's time to talk about the elephant in the room: Why are we prioritizing foreign-born and trained athletes over the local talent struggling to get a chance?🤔

While we celebrate our athletes' achievements, it's disheartening to see Filipino sports governing bodies constantly relying on overseas-trained players while homegrown talent gets overlooked.

Shouldn't our national teams be filled with the best Filipino athletes we have to offer rather than always relying on a band aid solution?

It's time to invest in our local talent, give them the resources and opportunities they deserve, and build a stronger future for Filipino sports!

We're not just talking about medals, we're talking about futures.

💔 The sad truth is, too many Filipino athletes with raw potential get lost in the cracks. Lack of funding, inadequate facilities, and a reliance on foreign imports leave our local talent yearning for support.

💪 But we can change this‼️
Imagine a Philippines where every child, regardless of background, has access to quality coaching, proper training facilities, and a clear pathway to success.

💡 It's time to invest in grassroots development!

Here's what we need:

➡️LGUs and Schools:
Take the lead by allocating resources for grassroots sports programs starting at the barangay level.
➡️Community Support:
Empower our coaches by providing them with the resources they need and allowancesthey deserved, so they can focus on nurturing the next generation of champions.
➡️Investing in Facilities:
Build and maintain quality sports facilities accessible to all, ensuring a safe and conducive training environment.

Let's start a movement!

Together, we can build a brighter future for Philippine sports, where every child has a chance to chase their dreams. 🇵🇭
