In 1998, a small rural town experienced an unexplained phenomenon when every older CRT television turned on by itself at exactly 2:17 a.m., displaying a nonexistent Channel 7 filled with static, followed by a calm, emotionless male voice that slowly spoke the first names of residents who were awake and watching at that moment, ending each name with the sentence, “You have been noticed.” The broadcast lasted exactly four minutes, after which all TVs shut off simultaneously, and although authorities confirmed no station, pirate signal, or transmission source existed, panic spread when several people whose names were spoken later died peacefully in their sleep with no cause of death found, except for unusual inner-ear damage suggesting prolonged exposure to sound. The voice never repeated names, never spoke to children, and returned weeks later at the same time, leading officials to quietly seal the case while residents reported that, even years later, abandoned televisions in the town sometimes still flicker on at 2:17 a.m., always searching for Channel 7.
