Kayaw di Umili proudly joins CordiMayo 2026 as the representative of Kalinga, bringing our gongs, dances, and living tradition to the heart of the Cordilleras and on the stage of the University of the Cordilleras theater.

KAYAW / HEADHUNTING

SPEAR / CHILAYATCHAT
A traditional, long wooden weapon tipped with a sharp, hand-forged iron or steel blade.

HEAD AXE / SAP-I
It features a crescent blade on one end and a sharp spike or prong on the other. It was historically the primary close-quarters weapon used by Kalinga warriors during a kayaw.

SHIELD / KAYASEG
The term is intimately tied to the Kalasag—the distinctive wooden war shield featuring three prongs at the top and two at the bottom.
