Upholding the sacred tenets of truth, ethical reporting, and campus press freedom, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Caloocan City officially rolled out the much-anticipated Division Schools Press Conference Closing Ceremony for 2026-2027 on September 19 at Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan Inc. (EDSCI).

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cecille G. Carandang, CESO V, emphasized that the competition goes beyond recognizing student journalists and qualifiers for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC), as it also aims to foster social responsibility by encouraging students to report on relevant community issues, amplify marginalized voices, and contribute to positive change through campus journalism.

This yearโ€™s iteration places a heavy premium on adapting to modern media landscapes, challenging student journalists to navigate the nuances of digital literacy, fact-checking, and responsible social media publishing while maintaining the timeless integrity of traditional journalism.

The ceremony recognized the ones who had placed in the Top 10 across individual and group categories, alongside Outstanding School Paper Advisers and School Heads who supported the development of student journalists and campus press freedom. First-place winners in group categories and top qualifiers in individual events will advance to represent Caloocan at the RSPC.

Adding profound joy to the milestone, EDSCIโ€™s own secondary student journalists didn't just play the role of gracious hosts; they stepped forward to bring honor home, proving that their dedication to grassroots storytelling and truth-seeking translates directly into excellence.
