You have all been part of my OC6 journey.

You have witnessed how I started with this dream of making the very first OC6 in the Philippines as part of my mission of reviving our islander culture as ocean paddlers. From the time I was awed by how big ocean canoe paddling is around the world and where it can take the Philippines, a country with natural paddlers and natural playground, until the day when I finally realized that wow, I have made not just one but two OC6. Believing in what Uncle Kimokeo, a renowned "wisdom keeper" in Maui, Hawaii told me, to produce more, I need to make at least 2: one male, one female. That had been done. Now we can race!

And so the race program was developed with the help of volunteers---people who believed that we can be a nation of paddlers, and that paddling can bring together communities, from business, to tourism, to environment, and of course, sports.

This is no longer just a personal mission or wish. It is a shared vision, where everyone who believes that this is probably (and I might be biased) the most sustainable kind of tourism that we should push for. That this sport will bring our people's appreciation to our water lifestyle and marine protection. And that we have a better chance in this league than in games taught by our colonizers (past and future! *wink).

And we will continue to paddle forward with this in mind, and we are inviting everyone to grab their own paddles and join us in this movement. One paddle stroke at a time. Mabuhi!

I organized, researched and witnessed the fastest and strongest BiGiW paddlers in Cebu.

My crew can't even beat them in sprints and marathons. I travel to this places of BiGiW culture Al the way to Samal and Maasin.

I will take the Tahitians approach in crew selection for Cebu, Visayan, Philippine OC racing team.

40 years ago, a boy used to sit at the shoreline of his quiet hometown in Calatrava, waiting for the fishermen to arrive. He was not so much after their fresh catch, but more for their stories on their fishing voyage coming from Toledo, Cebu and back to Negros.

That was when at an early age, a great vision was formed, which is to cross the strait using only the power of the paddle.

A happy birthday indeed to the man behind Island Buzz Philippines, and still the only Filipino to have paddled the entire Philippines from Sarangani to Pagudpod in 88 days.

Anyone touched by Buzzy's love for the ocean would know how this passion fueled every paddling expedition he has embarked on. This MAY, on his special day and perfectly timed during Ocean Month, be part of the celebration as he voyages from Toledo to his hometown in Calatrava, Negros then back to his beloved Cebu by paddling the Bulakna Va'a. Gifts and greetings are very much welcome but any donation to fund the expedition and paddle clinics for the locals will go a long way.
