Yesterday, July 29, 2026, our Astras Varsity held their team building for the 2026–2027 school year with the theme, "Mission Impossible: Every mission requires a Team."

The day started with a very insightful talk by Dr. Sherryl Muli-Abellanosa, PhD, Rpsy, a Psychologist, who spoke about Mental Toughness and Psychological Resilience as athletes. She reminded our student-athletes about the deep dedication, effort, and commitment required of them both on the court and in the classroom. Our varsity learned about the core pillars of mental toughness and resilience: Control, Commitment, Challenge, and Confidence. Dr. Abellanosa also created a memorable acronym from our school’s name, "PAREF Southcrest," to help our Astras remember the key traits they need to embody.

This was followed by an exciting team-building activity where students were randomly grouped to foster teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. They tackled a series of "missions" designed to test and strengthen their bonds.

It was a highly successful event packed with valuable insights and skill-building to kickstart the new school year! Congratulations to the sports coordinators for organizing the event, the teachers who facilitated, and most importantly, our Astras Varsity for their active participation and dedication!

We proudly celebrate Sabrina Mary D. Aldeguer for achieving 3rd Place in the Junior II category of the UTR Challenger Series II held at the prestigious Mouratoglou Academy at Epsom College Malaysia 🥉✨

Mouratoglou Academy is internationally recognized as one of the world’s premier tennis academies, renowned for developing elite athletes and hosting high-level competitions that attract promising junior players from across Asia and beyond. Competing and finishing on the podium in such a strong international field is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects Sabrina’s skill, determination, and competitive spirit.

Last Friday, July 24, 2026, the first Sports Parents' Orientation for this school year brought together our parents, coaches, and sports coordinators with one common goal: forming character, discipline, resilience, and excellence in our student-athletes.

As part of PAREF's 50th Anniversary Celebration, we proudly present The Championship Culture Project: Character-Based Athletics for PAREF Schools—a year-long program designed to empower students, parents, coaches, and mentors to cultivate a culture where excellence begins from within.

Join us for the Kick-Off Session on August 1, 2026, at 8:00 PM via Zoom, featuring renowned speakers Dr. Pete Paciorek and Coach Richard Thompson, OLY, Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time Olympian, as they share valuable insights on building champions in sports and in life.

Together, let us develop athletes who compete with skill, lead with integrity, and inspire others through character.
