Here's something I've learned over the years:

Most dreams aren't impossible. They just require the right strategy.

Whenever I want to achieve something I've never done before, I look for people who have already accomplished it. I study how they think, how they work, the mistakes they made, and the systems they built.

Why?

Because experience leaves clues.

I don't believe we always have to figure everything out on our own. Learning from those who have gone ahead can save us years of trial and error.

That's exactly why I invest in books, mentors, courses, and conversations with people who are already where I want to be.

Dreams are important.

But dreams with a clear strategy—and consistent action—are what turn into reality.

So let me ask you:

Let’s talk about a mindset trap that many high-achievers fall into: lowering the bar to protect ourselves from disappointment.

Tony Robbins once said: "Don't just lower your expectations. Trade your expectations for appreciation."

When we focus entirely on rigid expectations, we block our ability to see solutions. We get stuck on how things should have gone rather than navigating how things are.

Choosing appreciation over expectation isn't about passive optimism. It’s a strategic choice to focus on available resources, team strengths, and immediate lessons. It moves you from frustration to ex*****on.

Next time a plan doesn't roll out perfectly, make the trade. Appreciate the current reality for what it teaches you, and adjust your ex*****on from there.

Where It All Began: The Keekay Story — Part 1: The Leap

Looking back, I think the biggest risk I ever took wasn't building a business. It was leaving a stable job before I knew if my dream would ever work.

Back in 2014, I was working for an Australian company based in Cebu. I had been there for two years. It was a good job. Every payday brought security. I knew exactly what my life would look like a month from now, six months from now, maybe even a few years from now.

But every day after work, my boyfriend (who is now my husband) and I would find ourselves talking about something else.

Business.
Ideas.
Possibilities.

He had been learning about entrepreneurship and digital marketing, and one conversation after another slowly changed the way we saw our future.

We weren't dreaming about becoming rich. We were dreaming about building something that belonged to us.

After months of talking, planning, and praying, we finally made a decision that, looking back, probably sounded crazy.

We resigned.
No investor.
No backup business.
No guarantee that we would make even a single peso.

Just two young people who believed that if we gave everything we had, maybe—just maybe—it would work.

To fund our first business, we sold some of our valuable belongings.

There wasn't a dramatic investment round or a big loan waiting for us.

Every peso mattered.

Our idea was an online makeup store called Keekay.ph.

Dropshipping was still relatively new at the time, but we believed it could work. I spent countless hours researching suppliers from eBay and independent online stores in the Philippines. After reaching out to many sellers, I finally built relationships with three reliable dropshipping partners.

I wanted to understand the industry, not just sell products.

So I attended a makeup seminar by Mary Kay, asked questions, took notes, and immersed myself in a world that was completely new to me.

Looking back, I smile because I was completely obsessed.

My days often started at 5:00 in the morning and ended around 1:00 the next morning.

But strangely...

I don't remember feeling exhausted. I remember feeling alive.

Every product we uploaded.
Every page we designed.
Every SEO improvement my husband made.
Every small task felt like another brick being laid toward a dream we couldn't yet see.

We didn't have money for Facebook ads. So my husband poured everything he had learned into SEO.

Our hope was simple.

Maybe one day...

Someone searching on Google would discover a brand they had never heard of.

Then, just three weeks after launching **Keekay.ph**...

It happened.

We received our very first order.

Not from an advertisement.
Not from a paid campaign.
But through Google.
Our SEO had worked!!!

I can't even describe the excitement we felt. It wasn't just because we made our first sale.

It was because someone we had never met had found us organically, trusted us enough to place an order, and proved that what we had been building actually had a chance.

In that moment, a dream stopped being just an idea. It became real.

This morning, a message arrived from a client looking for a SOVA - School of Virtual Assistance Philippines/ Pinoy SEO - Free SEO Training Course Philippines graduate.

A year ago, that request would have started a familiar process: scrolling through messages, remembering names, checking spreadsheets, making introductions one by one. Not difficult, perhaps, but dependent on memory and manual effort.

Today, I simply sent one link.

It is a small moment, almost unremarkable. Yet as I sat there replying, I found myself thinking about how many opportunities begin this way—not with grand breakthroughs, but with a willingness to keep learning, building, and improving little things over time.

When we launched SOVA & PinoySEO, the mission was to help people acquire skills. Somewhere along the journey, that mission grew into helping connect those skills with opportunities. The training was never meant to be the finish line.

A client looking for talent. A graduate looking for work. Sometimes all they need is a bridge.

And perhaps that is why I find this so rewarding. Not because a website was built, but because the distance between those two people has become shorter.

Looking back, there were many moments when "I can't" would have been the easier response.

When I graduated from university, I didn't have everything figured out. When I accepted a minimum-wage job in a call center, I didn't know where it would lead. When I started selling makeup online, I was learning through trial and error. When we built businesses like SOVA and Malachisoft, there was no roadmap waiting for us.

Just one step after another.

Not "I can." Not even "I know how."

Simply: "I'll learn."

Today, we live in a time where knowledge is more accessible than ever. The resources are right in front of our eyes — books, courses, mentors, communities, videos, and opportunities to practice. Most of the time, the problem isn't that we don't have access to information. It's that we don't take the first step.

Don't wait for someone to rescue you. Don't wait until you feel ready. Don't wait for the perfect opportunity.

Have the courage to explore. Have the initiative to learn. Have the humility to start as a beginner.

At some point, we also have to accept that nobody is coming to change our situation for us. If we're stuck, the responsibility —and the opportunity— to move forward is ours.

A different life often begins with a simple decision:
From "I can't" to "I'll learn."

And then taking the first step. ❤️
