Hi, WBC Family. ❤️
These past few weeks have been one of the hardest and most heartbreaking seasons for us. As we were getting closer to celebrating WBC's first anniversary, we had so many dreams, plans, and exciting things we wanted to do together. We imagined celebrating another milestone with all of you, creating more memories, holding more tournaments, and continuing to grow as one family.
Looking back, we can't help but smile. From the very first day we started WBC, we never expected it to become what it is today. What started with just 9 members slowly grew into a community of 100+ players who continued to support us every single week. That alone is something we'll forever be proud of.
Watching so many of you start as complete beginners—nervous, shy, and afraid to even step onto the court and seeing your confidence grow week after week has been one of the greatest rewards for us. We created WBC with one goal in mind: to make badminton less intimidating and to give everyone, especially beginners, a place where they could learn, improve, and belong. Knowing that we were able to do that means we've already achieved the goal we want.
The journey was never easy. We faced many challenges behind the scenes. There were countless moments when we asked ourselves, "Kaya pa ba natin 'to?" But every time we saw all of you show up every week, every time you supported our events, encouraged one another, and made WBC feel like home, it gave us the strength to keep going. You were the reason we continued.
As your QMs, we want you to know that every single one of you became more than just club members. We treasured each of you. Every friendship formed, every inside joke, every tournament, every group picture, every random after-game dinner, every achievement, and every memory will always have a special place in our hearts.
Who would've thought that this club wouldn't just build badminton players, it also built lifelong friendships. Some of you met your closest friends because of WBC, and even some love stories began here. Seeing connections like that form because of something we started is something we'll always cherish.
Many of you know that we recently went through one of the most painful experiences of our lives. Losing someone you love is never easy. It's a kind of pain that changes you, and it made us realize that sometimes, no matter how much you want to keep going, your heart, mind, and body are asking you to slow down and heal.
For the past few days, both of us have been struggling with this decision. We kept asking ourselves if we should continue WBC or not. We talked about it over and over because, honestly, we didn't want to let this go. As much as we wanted to continue, our bodies, our minds, and our hearts are telling us otherwise. Right now, we need to rest. We need time to grieve, to heal, and to prioritize our peace of mind and overall well-being. It wasn't an easy decision, and it definitely wasn't one we made overnight.
With that, it truly breaks our hearts to announce that WBC will no longer queue and will be permanently closed.
This isn't the ending we hoped for, but sometimes life takes us on different paths. Even so, we don't want to remember WBC because of its ending, we want to remember it because of everything it gave us. It gave us friendships, unforgettable memories, laughter, lessons, and a family that we'll always be proud of.
To everyone who supported us from day one, to those who joined later, to every player who became part of this community—thank you. Thank you for trusting us, believing in us, and allowing us to become part of your badminton journey. Watching all of you grow not only as players but also as individuals has been the greatest reward we could ever ask for.
Although WBC is coming to an end, we sincerely hope that your badminton journey doesn't stop here. Continue playing, continue improving, continue joining tournaments, continue meeting new people, and continue enjoying the sport we all learned to love. Even if it's no longer with us, we'll always be cheering for you from afar.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every game, every laugh, every conversation, every tournament, every photo, every victory, every loss, and every Sunday we spent together.
Thank you for making WBC more than just a badminton club. You made it a family.
With all our love,
Your QMs, Dare & Ken ❤️🏸
Signing off.
