Staving off an early scare, the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) Titans Esports (MTE) Conquerors preyed on the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) Apex for a 3-1 win to cop the Season 3 Batak Kadayawan Esports Festival – Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) Multiplayer Collegiate Division title on August 3, 2026.

The Conquerors drew first blood in the opening Hardpoint map but failed to sustain a late advantage after the Apex mounted a comeback from a 157-189 deficit to sn**ch a narrow 225-221 advantage that they never recovered from.

“𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘬𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦, 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢 𝘳𝘢 𝘫𝘶𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘹𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴,” Jorelle Dale “jade” Tan, one of the team’s playmakers, quipped.

Then came the retaliation of the Conquerors in what seemed to be their comfortable domain in Search and Destroy, stringing together an 8-0 run in the best-of-nine bout before cruising to a 9-2 victory.

It was a cakewalk thereafter for the Conquerors as they regained the upper hand with much gusto in the Control match, sweeping Apex 3-0 to move to match point.

Seeking redemption in Hardpoint, the Conquerors made sure history would not repeat itself, dictating the pace from the onset and racing to a commanding 250-173 finish after building a substantial 208-137 cushion to seal the series.

Buoyed by victory, the champs secured a return berth to the Philippine Collegiate Championship (PCC), once again carrying Mindanao’s banner on the national stage alongside runner-up HCDC Apex.

“𝘞𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘢 𝘫𝘶𝘥 𝘢𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘬𝘶𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘨𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢,” Tan said, adding that the squad is heavily prioritizing chemistry and drawing up blueprints for a masterful bid in the group stage and playoffs of the upcoming PCC campaign.

Overcoming the mishaps in the opener, the Conquerors reversed the series with three consecutive map wins—coming away with the championship and another shot at the national crown.

After nearly missing the tournament due to a last-minute sponsorship setback, WarThunder, composed of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) Titans Esports (MTE) players, instead left Duaw Davao as champions after an undefeated run in the Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) esports tournament at the Annex Event Center, SM City Davao, on June 21, 2026.

The squad of Jorelle Dale “jade” Tan, Vlademer James “vlad” Pelare, Carl Benn Erdnas “bsan” Cinco, Centaurus Janriel “magic” Enot, Sammy “slych” Ditanongun, and Azem “monstar” Taha outlasted competitors from across Mindanao, culminating their campaign with a 3-0 sweep of Davao City’s ST Eunoia in the finals to claim the championship and the ₱50,000 prize purse.

From the outset, WarThunder’s road to the title was marked by consistency, as the team navigated the first three rounds of the LAN tournament without a loss to secure a spot in the top 8 before carrying its unbeaten run with a 6-0 record to advance to the semifinals.

Facing ABG Rakan from Davao City, WarThunder maintained its momentum with a 2-0 victory, booking a finals showdown against ST Eunoia.

Yet making it to Davao was already a battle in itself. With the tournament already approaching and resources still limited, the team turned its attention to what it could control: preparation. Hours of scrimmages and practice sharpened the squad for a tournament that would eventually see them go undefeated.

That preparation showed in the finals. Against ST Eunoia, WarThunder controlled all three rounds to complete a 3-0 shutdown and secure the Duaw Davao championship.

Almost two months after its June triumph, the title stands as more than another addition to WarThunder’s trophy cabinet. From scrambling to keep their tournament hopes alive to sweeping their way through Davao, the squad turned a near-miss into a statement run—cementing its place among Mindanao’s strongest CODM teams while proving that limited resources need not limit ambition.
