AYOKO NA MAGCHURCH

I received a message from a good friend, and these were some of her words:

“𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺, 𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩. 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘥. 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦. 𝘒𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘨 𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘖𝘝 𝘮𝘰.”

Ito yung mga words na nareceive nya from them:

“𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘬𝘢 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘨 𝘬𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢.”
”𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘬𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘨-𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘬𝘢 𝘱𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘢?”

I asked her gently, “Did you try asking them personally for clarity?”

She replied,

“𝘕𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘱 𝘬𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢. 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘰 𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢? 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘴.”

Nung nabasa ko ‘yun, sobrang nasaktan ako. Because this is the sad reality in many churches today.

Dati rin kaming umalis sa church, hindi dahil gusto naming lumayo kay Lord. Magrerest lang sana kami sa ministry for a season, pero we felt like nung hindi na kami “napapakinabangan,” wala na ring may pakialam.

To be honest, hindi naman lahat ng umaalis sa church ay backslider agad. Most of them (just like us before), nasaktan.

FORGIVE

I told her, “Forgive daily, even if they didn’t say sorry.”

Forgiveness isn’t about excusing their actions — it’s about freeing your heart. Because every time you forgive, you let God heal what others broke.

Remember the story of Joseph in Genesis 37–50? He was betrayed by his own brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. But when he finally faced the very people who hurt him, his words were full of grace:

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥.” (Genesis 50:20)

Sometimes, God allows pain not to destroy us,
but to position us for His purpose.

LET GO

Church isn’t perfect. People will fail you. Leaders can hurt you. Pero tandaan: hindi tao ang kalaban natin dito kundi ang demonyo.

The enemy’s goal is to bring division in the church, but God’s heart is always restoration back to Him.

Remember Job, who lost everything yet chose to let go of his pain and trust God’s sovereignty. Despite being misunderstood even by his friends, he still prayed for them and in the end, God restored him double.

So let go of the bitterness, the anger, the offense, and the what-ifs. Let go of the desire to be understood by everyone.

And maybe, tapos na talaga ang season mo doon. If you feel that you’re no longer growing in your relationship with God with where you are, pray and ask Him to where He wants to lead you next.

LET GOD

If you’re going through the same thing right now, please don’t isolate yourself.

The enemy loves to separate believers from community, but God designed us to grow with one another.

Yes, people in church can hurt you, but God can still use the church to heal you too.

I’m reminded of the story of the paralyzed man in Mark 2:1–12. He couldn’t reach Jesus on his own, but his friends carried him, opened the roof, and lowered him before the Lord.

That’s what godly community looks like, imperfect people helping each other get closer to Jesus.

Let God bring you to a place where you can breathe again, worship freely again, and trust again.

𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥,

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘵 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘐 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦.
