Talikala, a non-governmental association/organization in Davao City, is helping and assisting trafficked women and girls and it is their mission that they get to provide and enhance the opportunities, rights, and worth of prostituted women and children in today’s society.

Not many people know about Talikala and that’s probably the main or, at least, one of the reasons why the institution faces various problems such as financial support and food availability/resource which can be challenging as a Non-Governmental Organization in a pandemic

Let us help a community gain chances to be heard and no longer be disregarded. To an extent, we are not only here to recognize the suffering of the women assisted by Talikala but also to recognize the injustices and discrimination in and against prostitution.

Good Day Everyone!

Talikala Inc. is a non-government organization composed of empowered women who once became a part of the industry of prostitution/s*x-trafficking. They provide assistance to women and girls in Davao City with their programs to achieve many goals in order to provide these women a better quality of life and a better environment.

With the COVID-19 going on, the organization has been facing a variety of challenges that forbid them from serving their women and girls with their utmost best. Community protocols were and is a hindrance from helping these people heal and cope with the situation, which is why doing this project is important. Consequently, with our project, we aim to help sustain them with their needs which is to gain public awareness, to improve physical and mental health, and to teach about prostitution.

Kindly read our infographic to learn more about Talikala and our project! Please like our posts and like our page, it would me much appreciated and helpful. Thank you!

Talikala, Inc. is a non-governmental organization founded to help prostituted women and victims of exploitation break the chains that held them in place. It was founded in 1987, and has continued to operate since. Based on our initial polls from last year, an estimated 80% of people on social media were unaware of their mission.

Our group's aim is to help disseminate Talikala's message through promotional content, featuring original art, voice acting, music and an educational documentary tackling prostitution in a way that is suitable for a wider audience.

It is our own way of raising awareness of the very different lives these people were brought into against their will. We want to support and honor the bravery that all members of the institution have been doing for decades, even in the comforts of our own homes.

But you can support too!

A simple like, follow or share can help so much. In your own ways, you TOO can be a hero for the common good.

So let's all stand together and say, "WE ARE HERE" in these difficult times.

TALIKALA is a non-governmental organization that offers support, advice, training, and counseling to women and girls who have been forced into the s*x trade in Davao City. The group was formed to help and protect the prostituted women in Davao City. Their number one goal is to improve the the quality of life of women prostitutes and survivors of prostitution. It was founded on August 7, 1987 by three women of different backgrounds: American lay missionary Cindy O’Donnell, Filipina social worker Elizabeth O’Brien, and former night club dancer Felicidad Prieto. The organization has already helped numerous number of womens through their services and programs which are therapy and counselling.

With the outbreak of the Covid-19 it has kept us from going outside. Due to the protocols set by the government, community-based activities cannot be implemented by Talikala and visitations to their community cannot be done. Also, our partner institution’s food availability is scarce and lacks implementation of interventions towards the prostituted individuals. They are having a hard time spreading awareness to other communities and providing them their needs. Together, we can help them overcome their challenges with support, contribute in raising awareness, also to lessen stigma and discrimination towards the prostituted individuals.

Talikala is a non-government organization that aims to help women who are victims of prostitution. The organization provides support, advice, training, advocacy, and counseling towards the victims in Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines.

In our current pandemic, the Institution is facing numerous difficulties in terms of food availability, volunteers, and financial assistance to keep their organization going.

That is why we, fellow students of the Ateneo De Davao Junior High School, are encouraging you all to lend a hand to these girls and women who have been s*xually abused in their dark past and assist Talikala with their needs.

Offering our services can be done in different ways, such as lending monetary and non-monetary assistance to the Institution, spreading awareness about their cause and issue on prostitution, and lending to be their sponsors.

All these actions can create a great impact for the Institution, saving as well the women who are under treatment.
