Last Saturday, August 15, 2026, the board came alive as aspiring chess players gathered for the Agila Chess Team Tryouts 2026!

From challenging tactical puzzles to intense position evaluations and competitive matches, our participants showcased not only their chess skills, but also their discipline, critical thinking, composure, and determination to earn a place in the team.

Every move mattered. Every decision was tested. And every player gave it their all.

We are proud of everyone who stepped up and accepted the challenge. Whether you made the cut or not, remember that the journey does not end with the tryouts it starts here.

Chess is more than knowing the right moves. It demands calculation, patience, adaptability, confidence, and the courage to take risks when the position calls for it. Behind every move is preparation, and behind every victory is the discipline to keep improving.

🏆 Kurt Joseph Pepito rises as Champion, while Wayne Alcantara claims 1st Place. Rivals across the board, yet united in victory proving that chess is more than a game, it’s a bond of strategy, respect, and triumph.

♟️ Yesterday was a vibe! We had an open chess event for everyone who loves the game not just USeP student but also Students from ADDU, Davao Doctors College, DNSC, San Pedro College, and UM showed up and played side by side with our varsity players 🔥
