The Municipal Government of Igbaras, through the Igbaras Municipal Tourism Unit informs the public that the hiking trails in Tarugan Peak, Bato Bugtong, and Bato Gawa Peak are temporarily closed effective May 6, 2026 due to a recent forest fire.

This advisory is issued together with the Barangay Tigbanaba Officials to ensure the safety of all hikers and visitors.

All hikers are advised to refrain from visiting the area while clearing operations are being conducted and safety measures are being ensured. Reopening will be announced once conditions are deemed safe.

The local authorities of Barangay Passi, Igbaras, Iloilo announce the temporary closure of all ecotourism destinations in the area, including Nadsadjan Falls, on April 21–22, 2026.

This closure will give way to the celebration of the Barangay Fiesta and will also serve as a necessary rest period for the destination’s natural environment. The temporary suspension of tourist activities is intended to allow the area to recover and maintain the ecological integrity and long-term sustainability of its natural resources.

Visitors and tourists are advised to plan their trips accordingly and are requested to observe and respect the temporary closure.

The Local Government Unit of Barangay Passi appreciates the public’s understanding and continued support in protecting and preserving these ecotourism sites.

In response to the recent news circulating online, we would like to clarify that the incident reported last night (March 26, 2026) involving a deceased individual did not take place at or near the summit of Mt. Napulak.

Initial findings indicate that the case involves a natural death. The individual was reportedly suffering from a mental health condition and may have lost his way within the forested area of Sitio Toong, Barangay Tigbanaba, Igbaras, Iloilo. This information has been confirmed by the authorities, and was likewise disclosed by the family of the deceased.

The Igbaras Municipal Police Station has also confirmed the identity of the deceased as a resident of Barangay Romblon, Duenas, Iloilo. Furthermore, this incident is considered an isolated case, non-criminal in nature, and not related to any tourism activity.

In this regard, we strongly assure the public that Mt. Napulak remains safe for visitors. We also urge everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information and to rely only on official updates.
